Unhappy The horrid scent of a dead zombie kitten...

As the somewhat odd title implies, this is an incident that deals with the sense of smell in dreams, and more precisely a dream in which I for some bizarre reason managed to catch a sniff of the volatile odour that arose from the bodies of dead zombie kittens. However, since this is a huge leap forward in the plot, allow me to explain in retrospect how this strange scenario came into being.

In the dream I find myself at home, sitting in the couch with my mother and grandmother nearby, and idly listening to them discuss trivial matters. However, all of a sudden my grandmother introduces 'zombies' as a topic, and gestures at a cat huddled up in a basket. I look down at the cat in the basket and notice the wicked reddish gleam its its eyes which fills me with strong notion of unease. It's as if it's in a state of decay, showing in both its vacant stare and the condition of its body. Apparently neither of them can see this.

After a while I learn that the cat is a she and is carrying offspring, clearly indicated by by the sudden bulge now present on her. Both my mother and my grandmother express their enthusiasm. However, I'm clearly disgusted of this fact, but I do not show it openly. Instead, I hold a silent resentment toward it, and utter only a few words of amplified pessimism on the matter.

For a brief moment, the dream becomes jumbled, and I proceed to see images passing my vision rapidly. Dusgusting, yet typical images of blood, gore and body parts. It all feels like a documentary; a premonition of the future of the events now about to take place within my dream. I see images of towns being ravished by hordes of fleshy, pod-like worms with warped frog legs who turn everything they come across into beaten pulps of blood. It all looked very unnatural, hence being very frightening.

I'm now back home, and I remember hearing horrid growls and squeaks coming from the living room where the cat is about to give birth to its offspring. I feel nauseous, sweat running down my forehead. I rish out to the living room with my eyes covered and shout for my mother go get away from there. I dart toward the kitchen, find and grabs a shovel conveniently placed on the counter, and jab it out in the living room. It appears my mom has sought reason, and she ends the newborn zombie kittens' lives.

At the end, she comes out with a small towel or so wrapped around something I really want to cringe away from. I find the courage to approach it and bend my head down to take a look, only to be disgusted by a strong, putrid odour emanating from the wrap. I remember the scent so well that I even questioned how this could be in the dream. Perhaps a brief moment of lucidity? Well, well.

I hope you found this interesting to read despite the fact that it became somewhat longer than intented, but once my fingers start typing it's hard to cease them. Also: feel free to share any "similar" experiences where you've scented something strange, good or awful - whatever your nose was subjugated to.

Pretty interesting dream, especially with the apocalyptic horde of worm/ pod/ frog things. But no, I've never really smelled anything sharp in my dream. A sense of smell doesn't exist in my dreams I don't think. At least not yet.
