last night i stayed up until 3 am doing an assignment. When i went to sleep i was restless and felt like i was awake the whole time. I dreamed about my assignment. It was a mostly conceptual dream. Their was very little visual or auditory sensations. I was as if i kept thinking on autopilot after i went to sleep. It was agonizing because i could not come to any conclusion. It was mentally draining an unpleasant.

This has happened before when doing assignments late. Has anyone experienced this before. How can i ensure i end a particular thought process before i go to sleep so it does not disrupt my sleep?

This lead to some vivid dreams and a lucid later in the morning. Unfortunately it was cut short by my alarm clock.
