right i dont understand this ?

ive been reading stuff on how to get lucid and i am verry good at becoming lucid and one way to get lucid it says is go up to something and read it sevral time and it will change or go to a light switch and turn it on and of and it should be on in the off position if you do it enough but im not in control of what happens in my NON lucid dreams i cant walk over to something and read it i mean if you know in your dream that if you read somthing you can become lucid then why read it if you can just say im in a dream.
in my non lucid dreams its as if im i person that someone else is controlling me and i just go along with it.

all i have to do to become lucid it say im in a dream but i cant say that every time im in a dream.

      so basicly my questions are
      1. are you in control of your non lucid dreams
      2. how do i make myself say im in a dream

I'm new here, so hi to everybody.

That's exactly what my problem is, too. I have pretty much no control in my non-lucid dreams (that means all of them, I haven't had any lucid dreams...yet.) so I can't exactly go around testing light switches or reading text if I see a book.

To the OP, I guess it needs practice by repetition. Nowadays, I do an RC from time to time by reading something from a notebook in front of me and checking whether it changes, or reasoning with myself why the world around me is in a dream or not. Hoping, that it comes over automatically to my dream world as well.

You're not really in control in a non-lucid. The idea of a reality check isn't that it's something to be done when you're completely non-lucid. The point is that if you're unsure, you use a reality check. Some people also perform them regularly in the hopes that it will become a regular enough habbit to carry over into dreams. I'd reccomend you read up on the MILD technique, the best tutorial is in EWOLD (makes sense, considering LaBerge more or less invented it), however there are some good MILD tutorials on DV as well.
