Forgetting dreams.

I have been waking up after a dream & thinking to myself that I will remember it all in detail. I have been having dreams in great detail for over a week & waking up with it fully in my mind. It is so strong when I wake, that I think to myself, there is no way I can forget it. I am so tired, I can't write it down. But it is so strong in my mind at the time that I think I will remember it. It is usually around 4am when I seem to wake up from the dream.
I had one early hours this morning & it was me & my sister. There was something important she was saying to me & I know I had to remember what she was telling me. But that is all I can remember.
If there any tricks I can do so that I don't forget?

I had a dream 2nights ago & I rememer that It was my uncle & he had died & I was so upset because I never got to say good bye to him. I remebered that one. Yesterday I got a call to say that my uncle only as a couple of days to live. I have had dreams lots of time like this & seem to always remember these kind.

I'd keep a notepad by your bed so you can at least write down the basic ideas of the dream. Then later, that may help you to remember all of the details.

Me myself, I write down the whole thing oh matter what the hour so there are no details missing.

Like Drokens said, having a notepad or notebook handy by your bed helps so that you don't have to get out of bed or move around a lot to write them down. Or if you're really tired, just writing important details down that would help you remember the dream later helps too. Maybe there is a specific place, event, or conversation that happened. Sometimes the really specific details are what are forgotten first, so getting those written down sooner rather than later is better.

Unfortunately, it comes down to writing them down right after you wake up, or jotting something about them down. Practicing trying to recall dreams would help too, like taking a little bit of time out of the day just remembering or thinking about what you dreamt about the night before. I would'nt over-think or stress yourself out about forgetting dreams though, sometimes there are also periods of low dream recall.

I keep a notepad by my bed for this reason. Even if I'm too tired to write them down in detail, outlining the dream's key points is usually enough to jog my memory when I wake up.
If you still don't manage to write the dreams down for some reason, something else you can try to do that works for me as far as retrieving "lost" dreams is to spend some time before you actually go to bed meditating (not trying to fall asleep, though). Sometimes my brain will barf up old dream fragments from the night before, and some mental tugging at those impressions will recall a significant portion of the dream, or at least enough to be worth writing down.
