How to dream while it's still day?

I have only been able to do this once, but I was very relaxed and listening to classical music. So far, I have not been able to reproduce the same results. Anyways, here's my full-length question:

How can someone enter the dream state while it's day outside? Which method would someone use? How can you force yourself to dream when you are not feeling sleepy?

I'm pretty sure this might be related to meditation and entering trances, but so far I have never specifically heard methods of entering the dream state if the intention is not to sleep (kind of hard to explain. You want to dream, but you are not trying to sleep in the first place; you want to cut the chit-chat and enter the dream state directly). I have a suspicion this might have to do with WILD. I want to know how since I keep hearing hypnosis sessions where the hypnotist takes the client into a deep relaxed state and then having them place the dream all over again in their head. I suppose this might be the answer, but I want to make myself sure.

There isn't a straight fire solution on entering directly into REM that I'm aware of, however, it is possible to quicken the transition into the REM phase of sleep through the use of binaural beats made specifically for dreaming.

Binaural beats/tones make use of two different tones via stereo headphones played at the same time. These tones adjust your brain's frequency to that of what a brain would be in the state you are attempting to achieve.

Dang, not the answer I was looking for. I have used binaural beats in the past (even made some myself), but they personally do not help me. Or, at least, there's not a significant amount of change. The problem with binaural beats is that you need headphones to play different frequencies in each ear, while making sure they are pretty durable (or at least you don't thrash around in your sleep). Unfortunately, I kick, scream, and talk throughout the whole night (while turning constantly), so any headphones I buy will definitely be broken by the time I wake up. Maybe when I get to have my own place I'll buy some speakers and place them separately at the sides of my head? That's going to be a way long time off though, probably after getting a BA. For the time being binaural beats is out of the question.
      EDIT
      Forgot to say thanks

I suppose this isn't technically against the forum rules for double-posting, but when someone else does it...Well it's kind of annoying. So excuse me for this double-post, but I might have found the solution to my problem; maybe my post can help a couple of other people. Here it is:

So after looking through the tutorials out of boredom, I found the method labeled "WILD". Before I joined I didn't know the exact definition of a WILD, so I decided to re-learn it to get on "the norm's" definition. Anyways, I used to be in the New-Age movement and it was possible for a couple of people (supposedly) to AP within a minute- 2 minutes. So anyways I'm now convinced OBEs are actually VERY detailed dreams. After pondering for a minute, I decided this might be the best solution. Doing a WILD in day is possible, esp. with a nap. The only helpful suggestion for this is to use a dream mask and white noise in the background, though how to lucid dream in a public bus full of noises is beyond my ability. When I find a more satisfactory method I'll post it up here, but for the time being I have not. WILD seems to be the best choice. Meditation wouldn't be so bad to pair it off with though, and maybe a little bit of exercise prior to attempting the WILD to tire you out should also be recommended.

This morning, I was lying in bed after having woken up and really wanted to lucid dream. I was no longer tired at all, the sun was up, and my family was making lots of noise, but I threw the covers over my head and forced myself to go to sleep. I just sort of laid there daydreaming until, finally, I fell asleep. About halfway through the dream I became lucid!
I dunno if there's a special technique or if you just do what I did and force it, but it sure worked.

I think the best thing to do to dream during the day if you're trying to take naps in the day is, to get up very early in the morning say around 5 am and stay, and you may become sleepy later that morning and have a dream, i've done that before.
