ok I want to know what mattress you sleep on, and I want to know how often you have lucid dreams a week, I just got a new mattress and haven't even slept on it yet.

Hmm, I've never seen this topic before :)
Anyway, I've got a soft-sided water bed. Had it for a number of years. I've not noticed any real difference in the amount of LDs I have based on where I am sleeping.
well I noticed once that when I slept on this one bed I had 4 ld's and I would never have 1 on the bed that I slept on in my room, when I went back I had more ld's, I resintly got a serta mattress this is the first time I slept on it, of course I didn't have any ld's because I'm not realy trying, I mostly aim to get them in the summer time.
Usually when I sleep in a new location (friends house etc) my dream recall and lucidity increases significantly. I usually focus more on my senses, looking around the room, tasting different smells, how the bed feels, where the wind comes from etc. I take experiencing ‘in the moment’ for granted when I’m in my typical and accustomed environment such as my bedroom.
Because of the new environment (guess the new bed is included in the package) you become more aware, for that reason if you focus on the awareness while in the new bed your lucidity ‘might’ increase. Try putting something under your bed that represents importance to you.
I guess you can relate this to a new bed? I always seem to dream better after my sheets have been washed and they smell nice and fresh (lol).
I have a waveless waterbed with a thick foam mattress cover.. very comfy (ya kind of sink into it when you lay down). :-)
However, I never LD there. I use the wbtb method and always go to my living room couch so as not to be disturbed by my husband. Plus I think trying for a LD other than the place you normally sleep lets your subconscious know that you're serious in your attempt and helps with body asleep/mind awake.
I have a ginormous king sized bad, but the mattress is crap. I have alot of LDs on it though, I htink because it is so hard. When I wet to El Paso, that mattress was even harder, and I had crazy wild LDs there.
So I guess for me, the harder, to more LDs.
Really good topic Clairity. think I'll try sleeping on my brother's waterbed for a week and see what happens.
Then the couch.
Then on top of the refrigerator, you get the idea.
On top of the refrigerator! LMAO!! If nothing else the fear of falling off should help keep your mind awake! :lol:Quote:

My mattress about 10-15cm thick, and it's pretty stiff. Some people might say that it's too hard, but I like it as it is. I can lay on my bed - not in it.
Anyway, as Seeker, I haven't noticed any difference in the number of LDs with different mattresses.
my new bed is hard, but I had great dream recall last night, mabie if I get into the grove of things I can start have LD's again, although it's quite easy to fall asleep on, or mabie I was just sleepy.
I'm suprised to how fast this topic is growing!
I'm so jealous of all you who have waterbeds!! I had a waterbed YEARS ago and loved it. After 10 years or so and numerous taking it down and setting it back up again, along with several leaks, I finally had to say goodbye to it.
I now have a King size pillow top mattress, which I am in love with. I wouldn't have anything else, well, unless it was a kingsize waterbed of course.
I have an air matress.. and oddly enough, they suck for LDs, my old spring matress i would pull 7-10 LDs a week on.. this one I'm lucky to get any. Its pretty comfortable though, once you get it adjusted. btw, both were full-size (or double.. whatever you wanna call it)
