Hello.
I am wondering about how consistently can one become lucid, and for how long.
Can one, with enough practice, reach a level where he becomes lucid every night, or very often?
And for how long can one stay lucid?
I will be glad to hear answers from experienced lucid dreamers.
I'm not experienced, but my DVA professor Naiya is; she has lucids almost every night. Also, Dr. Stephen LaBerge developed the MILD (Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream), which, when mastered and practiced consistently, can give the dreamer lucid dreams on a consistent basis also. He has lucid dreams just about every night - it's his main area of study and expertise, and he founded his PhD on the study of it! :) hope that helped! Do you something about the length of their dreams?
The length of one's lucid dream also depends on their experiences with lucid dreaming. A master of lucid dreaming could make an LD last for quite a long time, while a novice may have trouble maintaining lucidity for the first 10 minutes. With practice comes lucidity. :shadewink:
It all depends on being persistent with it. For example, I get lucid daily now in most of my dreams, but its been 14 years of working on it, generally my lucids last around 15 or so mins.
If you really make it an important part of your life, you can reach the point where you are lucid every night. I find this takes up too much attention to be convenient. There are other things in life that require focus, sometimes. For example, I don't actively lucid dream if I have a crazy-difficult exam coming up. It is just too distracting.
I've tried it both ways, and I like having a good balance of lucid and non-lucid dreams. I also like a good balance of aware and unaware living. It is fun to lose yourself in a good book, or lose track of time while working on an important painting or complex problem.

Is it possible to have hours of lucid dreams a night? how many hours?
Well, there are a few things that factor into this. First of all, your REM periods last from about a minute to thirty minutes, and they get longer as you sleep for a longer period of time. Once you get good at inducing lucidity from the onset of your dreams, you can practice prolonging it.
There is also the matter of time dilation - your perception of time being sped up or slowed down in your heightened state of consciousness. Have you ever had a dream that felt like it lasted a long time? I've read about a guy who had a dream that felt like he lived through generations of time. Sometimes dreams feel as if they only last as long as the REM period. I believe that's something that you will have to experience for yourself, though.
