doesn't evryone lucid dream?

i'v always been able to control my dreams and aware of my dreams since i was a kid, im 28 now and it's become normal to me, as you can imagine, i have some crazy vivid dreams, and when i talk to people about my dreams they always say, whoa, you dream too much, you remember too much about your dreams, too much detail. i'v asked people "what don't you realise your dreaming and mae your dreams whatever you want?" and generally they do say no but i didn't realise it was such a big thing.

this is my first place to find out about "lucid dreaming" as i only discovered today that this is a type of dreaming...which to me was just dreaming......and im a bit confused. doesn't everyone dream like this? i've just glanced round the website to see people trying to learn how to dream like this and i don't understand... is it not normal?

No, not everyone lucid dream. Accordingly to Dr. Stephan LaBerge, only 15 to 16% of the entire human population can lucid dream naturally (without trying or learning it). You may be part of this percentage. The rest of us just have normal dreams, were we are not aware of dreaming - that's why we are here, to learn how to become lucid and control them.

I suggest you to read deeper on the forums - you'll learn how to control your dreams better and, probably, give an end to these ''recurrent dreams'' you've spoke in your other thread in the newbie zone.

Sorry for the walls of text. I tend to do that a lot on Dreamviews, lol.

Most people do not naturally become aware that they are dreaming in their dreams. They instead believe that they are awake in their dreams and have a very, very poor sense of logic. Things that seem weird in the real world could seem perfectly normal in the average person's dream. Dream recall varies, but from most people I've talked to, it seems that most people remember their dreams in fragments, sometimes whole, and some people have such poor dream recall that they don't believe that they dream at all. Regardless, everyone dreams every night.

Despite all of this, almost everyone has experienced a lucid dream at some point in their life. Lucid dreaming is simply dreaming while you are aware that you are dreaming. A high level of lucidity can include extremely vivid details and senses, a high level of dream control, and a clear sense of logic (knowledge that you're really asleep and that your actions in the dream will have no consequences in the real world). A low level of lucidity can include less vivid and more hazy details, little dream control, and a low level of logic (that is, you may say "I'm dreaming!" but not realize the full implications of this; you may question your actions, mistakenly thinking it'll have an effect on the real world).

There are people like you who lucid dream naturally, however. Dreamviews likes to call them "naturals." There are many people who lucid dream naturally, they appear on the site from time to time. It is just very far more common for people to have "normal dreams" and poor dream recall.

Most people on this site are "normal dreamers" who are trying to consistently induce lucid dreams, for various reasons, the main one being fun. :D A lot of people have to work hard to reach the point that you are at now. Like any skill, however, it can be trained. So yeah, congrats on reaching a point that many people have to work months to achieve! :P

I was once in the same position.
Have you noticed anything else unusual. For example things that Lucid Dreamers themselves would find strange? Or unbelieveable?

Consider yourself a very lucky person, a lot of people spend months of dedication getting to where you're naturally at. I'm jealous.

I'v always had wierd sleep/dreams but was very imaginative as a kid and put it down to that. i also used to have this thing happen where i was asleep but awake but i couldn't move. it used to happen quite alot and it used to scare me. I dont think that was dreaming because im sure i was awake as there was nothing else happening, no dream, it would be at the end of sleeping and i just couldn't move. not sure if this has any relevance but maybe you know something about that?

Anyway, I don't remember the very first time my lucid dreaming happened but as a kid, maybe 4 or 5, i used to have really bad nightmares nearly every night.... and i think i just found a way round that by making myself control my dreams.... obviously no one told me how to do it and there was no significance to it at the time other than a kid wanting to dream instead of having nightmares. the very first thing i taught myself was to tell myself i was dreaming when the nightmares got really bad and to wake myself up. this used to work and i'd wake up but quite often go straight back to the same nightmare..... so i Tried something else.

i found that as i went to sleep if i focused hard enough on a garden full of fairies (lol), til it was almost a picture in my mind, that's where my dreams would start, and if anything else crept in, i'd consciously push it out. so maybe that's when i did start teaching myself... and it progressed from there.

it got to the point where i'd look forward to going to sleep because i could go anywhere i wanted and that's when i started flying alot. from being able to take off from a run, and flapping my arms really hard, i could take off, even though it'd be a bit up and down as i'd lose confidence, and at that point i wasn't so aware as being in a dream as i was learning how to fly, which became a major part in my dreams. as it progressed and i could tell myself it was only a dream, i was able to fly straight away at any point and wherever i wanted to go as i had no fear of falling. that's now one of my favourite dreams and i dream it quite often when i want to. this also lead to me being able to breathe under water in my dreams. prior to that, if i fell from a building, i would wake up befor i hit the floor, or if i was drowning, i would wake up gasping for air. now i will just start flying upwards and the nightmare turns into a dream or start breathing under water and exploring the ocean. it was just a way of turning my nightmares into dreams.

From there it has got to the point where i can actually go to sleep and dream of things that i wouldn't normally do in real life or be able to do, consciously knowing its a dream and has no consequence. i can feel senses to the point it seems real but i know its not real. and i tell people in my dreams that its just a dream and if im having a really good dream i make the most of it because i know it's not real and won't be there when i wake up even though i can quite often go back and have the same dream again at some point.

even the nightmarish dreams that i spoke about, i go back to on purpose to see if i can figure it all out, i've got quite far in the terrorist dream, i couldn't tell you how many times i'v dreamed it but every time i make a mistake, the next time i go back i do it differently and get a bit further, it's not so much a nightmare now as an adventure i suppose.

occasionally i will have a normal dream i have no control over which i quite actually enjoy dreaming because they're out of my control and aren't so exhausting. and they are really wierd and make no sense. last night for example, i dreamt i went fishing and caught a carp that was wearing a denim dress!! i told my partner when i woke up, he thought it was quite funny. he likes fishing, i like dresses. lol. but i usually find this happens if i'm ill or been drinking alcohol etc

controlling your dreams sometimes takes away the point of dreaming i think, isn't dreaming about not being in control and letting your mind go to places your consciounce doesn't? although lucid dreaming can be very enjoyable!! dreams have always been a big part of my life, i can vividly remember my nightmares i had as a child which dont seam so scary now, and there are a few recurring dreams that i still have, and now as i'v discovered, i am capable of lucid dreaming.

it's quite nice to know that there is a name for it and other people who understand because like i say, when i'v told people about my dreams no one has ever understood them, it's just always been, jodie has wierd dreams. but when i go to sleep at night it isn't just a case of closing my eyes and waking up in the morning, a whole lot happens, almost like 2 different lives maybe.

thanks for listening to me anyway, sorry if i've babbled on but it's also the first time i've sat down and thought about how my dreaming got to this point, i guess i did teach myself in a way and assumed everyone was capable of doing it.

it's been over 20 years and i just thought it was my way of dreaming and im constantly learning new things and becoming more in control of my dreams almost to the point where it's boring, i feel really bad saying that when there are people trying to dream this way or unable to, it just happened naturally i'm not so sure if you can make it happen if you don't have the utter need to, like me getting away from my nightmares, maybe that's a good place to start for anyone who is trying?

When you're 'awake' but can't move at all, that's called sleep paralysis, many people who lucid dream will experience sleep paralysis at one point or another. Your body gets put into sleep paralysis whenever you go into the REM stage of sleep, your dream time, this is so you don't actively act out the things you do in your dreams while you're asleep. Sometimes though, when you come out of REM, your body for some reason doesn't always come out of sleep paralysis when it's supposed to (when REM ends) and people will be awake but unable to move. This is usually a very frightening experience for most people because your body can get weird sensations during this time such as the feeling of suffocating or being crushed and sometimes people even hallucinate during SP which makes it even more scary.

As far as what 'level' you're at, you're pretty much a pro at lucid dreaming from what you've said lol, and you don't even realize it. I'm sure there are probably things you don't know about lucid dreaming though, such as ways to make your dreams more vivid and ways to prolong your dreams. If you get bored of your dreams maybe you should try setting goals beforehand, this will give you an idea of exactly what to do in your dream once you're lucid, many lucid dreamers set goals for themselves.

But it seems you haven't utilized the lucidity to all that is possible, you didn't really mention any particular 'achievements' of yours in your dreams except getting away from nightmares. Flying and underwater breathing are quite basic things I would say.
Mostly I would say your success is to your early start to begin your 'training'. It can take years for to fully develop these dream skills. Having a early start is a good thing.

Which I didn't know the name for back then and it slowly has been progressing as I have aged. It's slow but steady progress. I learned the name lucid about a year back now since then I've only become more focused to try and improve my dream time with more lucidity. I'm 23 now.
At all times otherwise I've been passively on and off been working on my dream recall since age 16 but that was just being mindful about it and looking back and trying to recall. As of late as I joined these forums I started my dream journal. It has been of help as well to propel me further onward.
But I have to say it's slow progress in ways anyway.

Yeah, that sleep paralysis sounds like what used to happen to me, hasn't happened for a long while, it is very very scary, and it does feel like suffocating and being crushed or held down. Although relating to that, i'm glad that stops you from acting out dreams because sometimes in my dreams, they get so real i actually wonder if i'm acting it out in my sleep and i think to myself, maybe i should wake myself up in case i am! that's comforting to know that i'm not!! i'l tell myself that next time.

....although i did wake up once, when i had been pushing a pram in my dream, to find the duvet in my hands in front of me as if i was actually pushing a pram, i also had a dream once where i was crying and as i woke up and opened my eyes, tears came streaming out. maybe thats as im waking up and coming out of REM? and coming out of sleep paralysis? i can't believe i'v never looked into this before. it makes alot more sense now. I did have a book on the meaning of dreams once but that was it. it's always been like my own little world. I think I might start writing my dreams down next and go from there, it's become so normal i'm not suprised by dreams anymore and it seems as though i have a lot of the same dreams so that might be a start.

...... just wondering what you mean by achievments?.... there are certain dreams which used to control me and that bothered me and over time i learnt to face them and overcome them, and also dreams which i sepcifically choose to have before i go to sleep because i enjoy them, i also conentrate on making these dreams better, longer and more vivid, which has worked.... is there something else i should think about trying?

Well, a lot of people have "dream goals" or certain things they'd like to do in their dreams. When you dream, the world around you is a canvas, and it can be changed at will. The plot, place and overall feel of the dream can be controlled, and altered.

If you look at my signature there are a few basic dream goals, many other people have them in their signature. A thing that often happens with natural lucid dreamers like yourself, is that you think of it as natural in your life, and oftentimes don't attempt to push it and see what you can do. A lack of experimentation in the dream world. While it might seem surprising to be able to fly, or to breathe under water, these are extremely common, and a lot of people argue the easiest things to do in your lucid dreams.

Dreams don't have laws like the real world does. Theres no law of gravity, no law of what something feels like. Think that that ground is made of concrete? Feel it, in the dream world, it could feel like butter. A lucid dream doesn't have to make sense, and as you've had nonsensical non-lucid dreams, you might have had one in which something impossible has happened, where you've had a super power, or someone else has.

In a dream you can control fire, and people often do. You can grab the sun with your fingers and move it, you can do anything you can imagine, so long as you put your logical mind at rest. That's what he means. What have you done in an effort to control your dream, other than fly and breathe under water. It's great that it's helped with your nightmares, and that's one of the good uses of lucid dreams, but a good majority of the people here are here for fantasy fulfillment. You've probably had sex in your dreams, feels real doesn't it? Anything could.

Try playing around in your dreams some time, you can shapeshift, that's common. You can do drugs, have sex, clone yourself, turn into a vampire, fight with a demon, etc etc. The possibilities of the dream world are endless.

People may say you have weird dreams, but what if you told them that you consciously jumped over buildings and used superman-esque abilities to rescue a princess? Weird turns into amazing, and most people are impressed with a good dream controller. But that's not to say it isn't fun either. It could also be serious, such as talking to a dream character about the meaning of life, or finding your spiritual guide. Do what you will, and experiment.

okay, i see what you mean now, i have no problem taking control of my dreams but havn't really pushed the boundaries that far on purpose..... i'm not sure i'v ever wanted to morph into a vampire or be a superhero. lol. my non-lucid dreams are more like what you describe funnily enough.

when i lucid dream, i actually seem to do more "normal things" that i just wouldn't otherwise do in the real world. that makes it seem more real to me, although i have been lucid dreaming for so long i should imagine i'v done strange things from time to time to shock myself. it always depends what mood im in. the flying and breathing under water were the first things i did that made me realise i was aware of dreaming (maybe 20 years ago) but the most memorable because that was the beginning of my lucid dreaming, but they have progressed alot since then. like you say, jumping over buildings, floating.......going into outter space - i love that one. in fact there's lots i havn't mentioned because i hadn't really thought about it. i think it is a case of it becoming so normal to me, i overlook the "amazingness" of some of my dreams. but now i know what you mean and what people actually train themselves to lucid dream for i will concentrate on being a bit more adventurous, it sounds fun. there's nothing i can't do in my dreams, i just need to WANT to do it and tell myself to do it. i'v deffinatly become too used to it and taken it for granted and maybe stopped pushing myself, maybe that's why they have become boring and repetitive, i hope this new information rattling round in my head is enough for me go further...... if its on my mind, im sure i will...... i'm going to bed now to see where my dreams will take me tonight!! nite nite. sweeeeeeeetdreamzzzzzzzzzz....

.... when i say people, i mean 4 or 5 people i'v spoke to about dreams, that's not much to go by, and who was ever to say that my dreams were wierd, to me it was wierd that most people don't even remember their dreams!!! i never even thought much further than that and never followed it up. forgive me for my ignorance but to the average person dreams are just dreams, however strange they are...... then i click on a random link about LUCID DREAMING while surfing the net which led me to this website and at a glance, maybe i should'v read more about it before posting, but, at a glance realised this could explain my "wierd" way of dreaming..... and therefore quite an obvious question to help with my confusion was "is this normal"? in the hope that people who actually might know about this stuff would be more insightful than the odd random person i'v briefly spoke to about dreams for all of 5 minutes.....

it was only the people who kindly posted back useful information that have now opened my eyes to it and made me realise it's not that "normal" if only 15-16% of people can do it.

and I would like to thank everyone again for being so helpful in me understanding my dreams. i did not come here to mock people who would like to dream like this and i actually feel quite bad that some people try so hard to do something which comes naturally to me and i wasn't even aware of it.....

There are though the more controversial subjects that everyone doesn't believe in. Like dream sharing. You can find threads related to that much in beyond dreaming forum.

Then there are just mental skills you can try to learn in your dreams. Want to replay back your entire life? Go and try it.
One of my major goals in my lucid dream control is to learn full recall and playback of everything in my life.
I've this far only had a short dream moment where I got a short playback of a earlier dream I had the night but later in a lucid moment was trying to recall but having a hard time. I got a little of a helping hand but it shows it's possible and just needs work.

There are some lucid dreamers here who can access any dream they have had by finding the dream in their dream world computer journal system. Or the dream dreamviews. There you can access your dreams as full holographic projections to play back. Gives me much motivation.

Only your mind is your limit, everything is possible.

It seems like ever since the movie Inception came out, Many people have been doing searches on Lucid dreaming. I’m what you would call a natural lucid dreamer. I’ve been able to lucid dream ever since I was a child. The first time I had a lucid dream, the first thing I did was fly. It just came natural for some reason.

It started when I first started reading my brothers x-men comic books, with Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops ect… Marvel comics. The details of the drawing must have stuck with me. Cause that night I had my first lucid dream.

Okay don’t laugh… That night I had a dream that saber tooth was attacking wolverine, and the rest of the X-men, Now I was a kid who was just recruited into the Xavier Institute. Along with iceman, silver suffer, and jubilee… lol I’m 28 now and I was just about 8 then but I remember every single detail… this fight was taking place in lower Manhattan, NY… “I’m a New Yorker, go fig”… As this was happening I suddenly realized that I was witnessing this entire event in the sky. I was floating in the air, it came natural… Wolverine was down and out, and saber tooth was about to take the last hit…. Storm saw me in the sky and told me to go hide somewhere, Because saber tooth was actually after the new recruits for some reason… I didn’t want wolverine to get hurt so, I decided to help him. I stretched my hand out, and a reddish beam came out, and knocked saber tooth unconscious, for about a min or two. When he came to, he started coming after me. I flew away and ran into silver suffer…. At that point, I realized I was dreaming… So I turned around and faced saber tooth head on. I was able to control my ability to fly… and shoot beams out of my hand, and took him out. I was so excited that I woke myself up….

Since then, I’ve been having frequent lucid dreams. When I told my family about it, my dad said it was natural for people like us to have lucid dreams. “Us, meaning Nigerians.” Its been scientifically proven that Nigerians, Jews, Japanese, and a few other selected nationalities can naturally have lucid dreams. It was also discussed in my physiology classes as well.

I have friends who are pestering me to teach them how to lucid dream. I’ve told them about this along time ago, but they didn’t believe me. Till they saw the movie “Inception”, its difficult to teach people how to lucid dream, especially if you’re a natural at it. But I’ve told them about this site, so they can stop bugging me about it. Everybody wants to do it now.

Years have gone by, and I’ve only gotten better at it. From fly, to telekinesis, to controlling all the elements, (like water, fire, wood, earth, air, metal.) Making things materialize. Like I can make a bottle of water suddenly appear, or a building suddenly appearing as well. Anything I can think of I’m able to do. I can even change the story line of what’s going on. I can morph, once I morphed into a mermaid, and another i morphed into a power ranger "The yellow ranger to be exact"…. Lol…Go ahead laugh, all my friends do… lol

If any of you have any questions please fill free to ask. I can now lucid dream at will, If I choose to. I'll be happy to teach any of you how to do lucid dream at will, however you must first get the whole lucid dream thing down. Those who are a natrual at it, will pick it up alot quicker, then those who are try to learn how to lucid dream.

sweetdreamz and Tonyling88, your stories are really fascinating and inspiring. I'm 19 and a newbie at LD, I don't recall ever lucid in my life, and I rarely remember my dreams (once/twice a year maybe).

Everthing the post starter posted in the post is EXACTLY the same thing I went through
like I always thought Everyone could control their dreams..I have always been able too

I didn't realize everyone couldn't when I was talking to my best friend a couple of months ago, she made a comment about how I how I have so many crazy and imagitive dreams and I told her "you know how you can control your dream an-" she stopped me and said "no?? I can't ever control them"

I though she was lying at first then I asked around and was told by eveyone I asked they couldn't control theirs.

I've had sleep paraylis like a couple of times , the first time I told my mom and she told me it was a demon (will make this short b/c of course the conflicts with religion and sciene)
the others I will be waking up from nothing(or the state I refer to when right after I get tired of LD I just go into a dark blank state) and my mind still wants to lingering in my LD but my body is ready to get up{it doesn't happen often just rarely}

the only times I can ever remember having nightmares(or dreams I couldn't control) is when I'm really sleep deprived and out of nowhere I fall asleep and later my mind starts to dream and I can't contol it, it happens very rarely too so that's why the first time it happen I thought it was extremely rare for people to do later I now know this is the normal sleep state for most people instead of my LD

well I control anything in the dream I want like
I can have extradionary powers and stuff (usually after I watch a superhero movie I like to have those but
usually i have what I like to call realistic dreams
like I get rich and become famous or I'll meet a guy, we get married and have kids the end (of course the dream is way more detail and sometimes last a long time(over a couple of week) or a short time(few hours)..all depends on what I want!)

I can control Everything(if I really want) such as
weather, time lapse, people reaction to what I will saylocation, clothes I wear, features on people(sometimes I will give my self naturally bigger boobs or long hair), the color of a bug I mean completely Every single thing big or small but
also I have to ability to I guess you could say put my mind on auto pilot and do what I like to call the "surprise movie" where I pick just some major plots I want to happen in my dream, the main character usually me and my lover guy and let my dream role(I like doing this bc of the surprises i get from my mind)

I also can LD whenever and wherever I want, I do it in class when I bored and lay my face in my arms, I do it through out the day, in bed, etc all I do is close my eyes

Now that I see how many people can't naturally do this I would love to help other achieve LD, I mean I've been doing it ever since I can remember so Im pretty sure I could teach someone how right..what do y'all think?

Wow you are an expert then, please share some of your experience, like something that is hard to experiment on, talking with your dream guides for example

I'm sorry I only know a few terms from reading a little so what is a dream guide?

Well Let me tell you guys a little secret, about the things you can do as a lucid dreamer. One thing that I’ve come to realize is that you can do anything, as long as you believe that. If you’re new to this whole lucid dreaming thing, and your trying to learn how to do certain things in your dream, there’s just one thing you need to keep in mind.

See the reason I’m able to completely control my dream at will. Is because of the simple fact that I believe “I can” My whole family can lucid dream. I’m the first of 6 children, so I was the first to figure this whole thing out. I’ll tell you guys what I told my siblings.

The moment you realize that you’re dreaming, once that thought pops into your head, Your next thought should be , “Since this is my DREAM I CAN DO ANYTHING” once you realize that, your abilities to control your dreams would be endless.

This is the truth, most people don’t realize that, they themselves are usually the reason why they come up short. Just believe in yourself, and you’ll start to notice how much better you’ll get at controlling your dreams.

I read somewhere on youtube, or another forum that most people who try to fly in their dreams, usually have a difficult time. So they were told to put a ring on their finger, a ring that can make them fly. 100% of the time it works, must people say that it’s the only way they can fly in their dreams. I think it’s an okay solution, but it hinders lucid dreamers from reaching their full potential.

If you depend on something to help you develop certain abilities in your dream, then you will never learn how to control your dream the way you want to. When some one fly’s in their dream, their telling their subconscious that they are in control. And all the limits of the natural world will not be applied in their dream. Flying in your dream is a way of disconnecting yourself from all the laws of physics. Once you know how to fly in your dream with out any help from a ring, or a cape. You’ll start to see some serious differences.

I taught myself The same way you did. The problem is I dont ever remember any dreams except the ones that I am aware of while still dreaming or the ones that I am woken up during the course of the dream. Ive never really pushed myself to do things either. The last time I became aware in a dream I let it play itself out for half the dream and then didnt do anything except talk to people after i took control more.

Yea when I was younger and lucid dreamed I could never fly. A couple weeks ago I had a lucid dream and I decided to give it a try, and I could do it. It was amazing. i've flew in a few dreams since.

Yeah, well flying in your dream is a pretty amazing feeling..

I am glad to find this forum...and I guess I would just like to share and get others opinions. My BF and I have been talking some about my dreams recently and it has led me to believe that I am and always have been a little unusual I guess in my dreaming. I cannot remember a time that I could NOT control my dreams....and I can remember back as far as 2 years of age. I did not have a lot of nightmares like so many have described. I only remember one that I had about age 5 that involved skeletons coming to kidnap me...and I could not stand the thoughts of their bones touching me so I made them put socks on their hands and then I was fine! <giggles> But I have always KNOWN that I was in a dream. If the dream is not going the way I like, then I change it. Or if I REALLY liked a part...then I can rewind the dream and go over that part over and over again. Or if I cannot get the dream to change...then I just stop it...and allow another one to start...or wake up. Sometimes if I am in a dream that I like, and I get woke up by a phone call..etc...then I will lay back down and tell myself to start that dream again...and I will. Many times, if it is a dream that has some real life components in it...say a situation in real life that I am trying to work out, then I will go over that part in my dream over and over again trying different solutions to see if I can find one that will work.

I have not ever really used it to have FUN in my dreams. I have never flown or walked under water, but it sounds like FUN! I would like to do that and perhaps will try that in the future. It seems that most of my dreams are used to "work". My BF laughs at me. He says sleep is fun...I tell him it is used to work and that I do my best work then. I often use sleep to "problem solve" and will figure the problem out in my sleep, wake up and go fix it in my real life.

I used to have really WONDERFUL vivid dreams...almost like long epic movies, but as time has gone on...and the worries and cares of real life have set in (I just ended a 30 year abusive relationship) I have not had the really wonderful dreams that i used to have and have mostly "working" dreams.

I have never had sleep paralysis that I know of, but I do have odd types of sleep that I find really annoying. For example, if I have the TV on...say a news channel when I fall asleep, I can go to sleep and listen to the TV at the same time. I AM asleep, but am fully aware of what is going on and being said on the TV...it is almost as though the 2 worlds are battling for dominion and I always wake up feeling like I have not slept well. I call it being asleep but not asleep. Does anyone else do that? I am new to all this...and maybe what I do and have always done is not lucid dreaming at all???...since I am not really sure what it is and/or is not...perhaps someone can steer me in the right direction and let me know if any of this sound familiar or "normal" to anyone else?

WOW...really??? That is so weird to me...it is just something I have always done. Something else I was talking to my BF about yesterday...I KNOW when I am going to sleep. I lay down and begin to hear or see wierd things....if there is a TV on then I might begin to hear it but distorted...or thoughts that are in my mind begin to change and swirl around...and you get almost a dizzy feeling...Things begin to flash thru my mind quickly and unrelated...and I know I am going to sleep. He said he does not do that....one moment he is conscious and then...he is not...but he does not have a "transition". I thought EVERYONE KNEW when they were going to sleep??? Do they not?

I was lucid a lot when I was in like... elementary school
but then I pretty much lost that ability

well...if I go to sleep for a while then wake up and go back to sleep I can transition into my sleep and remain conscious the whole time. I never have while just going to sleep at night, though. I doubt it would work. Maybe if I tried, idk.

So is that kind of like what I was talking about earlier....where you are asleep but not asleep? And if so, when you do that, do you wake up feeling like you have not really slept? I always know when I am going to sleep tho....as I said....I will just have the wierd feelings and such..and I just let it continue...knowing that it is "pre-sleep".
