Is there any risk?

This morning was marked by a succession of lucid dreams. I pushed it to a limit I never tried before, and was always jumping from one to another, since real noises were always waking me up. In one of the dreams I was in a shopping center where a group of oneironauts was talking. I remembered asking one of them if there was any risk, and he told the story of two dreamers who started to have sleep problems, since they were always between full asleep and fully conscious.

Of course, for me, it is all nonsense, but I decided to put the same question to real oneironauts this time and not my projections ;)

Not anymore of a risk than playing a game, I'd say.

It's just entertainment :D

I think the only risk is the philosophical questions and a healthy addiction to such entertainment ;)

Yea, pretty much the same as the risk as playing games then! :P

I guess it depends on the real function of dreams. For instance if dreams are simply a byproduct of the brain processing more information from the mind due to a lack of external stimuli then its not really a problem. If dreams are somehow beneficial, eg used for the organisation of memory or the stability of mental or physical health then potentially 24/7 consciousness with no unconscious dreaming could have a negative impact (presuming lucid dreams dont provide the same benefit as non-lucid). I imagine that if such a negative impact was possible you'd need to be lucid in the vast majority of your dreams though, not just a few lucids a night.

Personally i wouldn't worry, if you ever get to the stage where you have soo many lucids per night it begins to affect your health... then you're a lucky *%&$ :D

Not everyone has seen Inception and most be people call them DCs (Dream Characters) not projections. If you want most everybody to understand you call them DCs. :panic:

Thanks bradysdreaming. Called it projections by instinct since those characters aren't more than actual projections of my mind. I still didn't catch up with all the specific terms used by most dreamers but I'm working on it :)

Couldn't agree more. I understand the pain for some people to see a lot of Lucid Dream online communities being invaded by hardcore fans, but actually I think it is a very positive thing, since it brought more attention to the subject in hand and allowed people to at least question themselves about it.
