Paradiso, Shared Dreaming, Dreamviews. DV Headquarters.

      Myello.
Some may remember this, a program called Paradiso.

As more and more lucid dreamers enter this realm of dreamscape creation, many others are desiring the same satisfaction of being able to construct their own world. The problem is, many don't know how, or where to start. Thus, I've created Paradiso, which provides descriptions, techniques, and advice on how to make all of this possible, leaving the user with one awesome result.
It's just... Pure creation. -Ariadne, Inception
(gotta have a lil' Inception reference now, don't I?)

A seven day course that trains you to shape your own dream space, a sort of Dream HQ which you can go to every night if you wanted to.
You could put anything in it, anything at all, the only limits would be the ability to memorize an area and then your imagination.

And do you remember, then, the old idea for Lucid RPGs? (Avalon and Lucid Rage)

And what if we were to combine this? This idea is especially interesting if you believe in Shared Dreaming, and one could speculate that this could be a helping hand in Shared Dreaming.

Imagine if we were to collectively plan out a Dream Space for Dreamviews. A space that is Dreamviews as a physical place, except only in our minds.

Paradiso makes you scan your area and basically burn it into your own brain, so that you are able to go there in your sleep. And it is quite simple, isn't it? If you're really familiar with a place, you're going to be able to dream of it. So wouldn't it be possible to create the perfect DV Dream Space, burn it into our minds, and then we'd be able to go there in our dreams?

Without going into Shared Dreaming, this is still incredibly interesting. If we were to have a Dream Space burned into our minds that we associated with Dreamviews, there would be a high chance of having Lucid Dreaming-related dreams, and there would be a high chance that you'd dream about someone you know from DV.
It would also help you stay and become lucid, as the entire place would be based around the theme of Lucidity. (Except of course for the DV Chat, which will obviously take the shape of an old, smashed up ship, turned upside down and made into a tavern full of drunken weirdoes)

I was going to think about how a place like this would look, make some drawings and go all Architect on this one, but then I went like, derrr, and decide to share the idea instead.

As an additional note, I'll just point out that I don't personally believe in Shared Dreaming, but for those who do, I think this idea might be incredibly interesting.
Think about this, you do need a place where you meet up, in dream, right? Usually, you'd take a place that you both know and are familiar with. Couldn't there be some advantage to going somewhere that is specifically designed for the purpose? A place that doesn't even exist outside the dream world...

And for the rest of us, I just see it as a cool idea that would allow us to go somewhere we associate with this community. You'd still be able to meet other DV members, except the members are NPCs...
And the other interesting thing would be that, as this is a Lucid Dreaming Community, I find it to be oh so fitting that we'd have our Headquarters in a dream.

      So here's a few ideas. Add anything. Comments, ideas. We'll need drawings, too. And in the end, we shall have the official Dream World Dreamviews Headquarters. But yeah;

-Guards at the entrance that require you to Reality Check properly before they allow you to enter.
-A hallway with doors leading to different, interesting rooms.
      a. A door leading to the Mirror Room. (Full of mirrors)
      b. A door leading to A Nightmare.
      c. A door leading to the Dream Guide office. (lul? or perhaps just a door that leads you to where your DG is at the moment...)

      - White themed, like marble... I imagine the main room (If there is to be such a room.) to be spacious and made of marble, perhaps with a sky blue carpet in the middle, and the roof is colored in many colors, but mostly sky blue, making the room look much like this site.
      - The DV Chat tavern, duh.
      - Flight Platform (Potions of Flight, Flying Powder and many more products will be provided, free of charge to all members of the Dreamviews community. Flight is guranteed after consumption, and our products are one time use only, after use any of our products, you will never have to use a Flying Aid Product again.)
      - Teleportation Pad / Portal.

Does anybody who's used this have any thoughts on it? Also, why is that "The Goods" file required? Is it part of the program? It seems like it has something to do with binaural beats and subliminal messaging.

I don't know. Maybe in one of the later days on the Paradiso program you have to listen to certain tracks? I decided I am going to try the program starting tomorrow.

You know, I've been thinking about the next generation of video games. Initially, I thought of headsets that displays GUIs and is hooked up to a huge network.
Upon lucid dreaming, this idea has been warped. Like you said, what if you could somehow 'link' everyone to a central destination, where they could all have dreams?

I soon dismissed the idea as I soon thought of all the paradoxic influences of this, as well as bugs and exploits
Maybe one day we'll have more knowledge about shared dreaming and can make this a reality...

      ---

Haha my bit of off-topic rant, but this is a really cool idea!
Building your own dreams in the physical world...and living them in the Dream Scape!

      Here's a few Ideas:

A room filled with sensory objects so that one could regain lucidity by examining in detail the objects if he/she so happens to be losing lucidity.

A spawning room where you can summon monsters to practice your powers and dream control on

How about private rooms/worlds for each member? Let's say everyone has their own "hotel room" with their username with on the door, so they could enter their own private world.

Well the rooms could have portals in their rooms. I like the idea of having rooms for them. It'll be like a hotel!

Spawning room, I immediatly imagined this as a huge, black, octagon-shaped room with doors at the ends.
And for the sensory objects, what did you imagine there? My first impression was rather gross, with long black stalks with round, colored things on them. Some would be yellow and made of fur, another would be purple and made of those jelly balls with long jelly-hair... Then again it could be a room with as many normal sensory objects around. Maybe a tree, a pond and a waterfall, that would already include water, falling water, the slippery bottom of a pond, bark, leaves, dirt, grass. But how to fit in carpets, concrete, rubber and metal?

I'm trying to come up with a layout, but it's hard :< Dunno if DV is supposed to be curvy or squarey. How2architect?

I just looked through it, and yeah, the BWGEN program will be used in day four, and already on day one, the program tells you to "listen to any or all of the music files either while or right before falling asleep".
And one of the important things about the program is that you have to do all the previous days' tasks, every day. So basically the program wants you to to listen to any or all of them, before you go to sleep, every night for the full seven day course... And after day four, it also wants you to use the BWGEN every night...

I listened to the CurseLucidDreams.mp3 just a while ago, all of it. And to be perfectly honest, I think it's quite a bit of a scam. I'm not sure how much we should be willing to skip in the Paradiso program, but stuff like this definitely seems very farfetched to me. There's a site about these things, and let me just quote something from their FAQ:

      · What is a "curse" file?
A "curse" file is a file that has suggestions implanted to make it resistant to removal by others or the DeprogramAll file. Curses are intended to be more permanent and harder to remove than training files.

Seems like some voodoo shiz they got running over there. But on the other hand, they do say that you have to practice falling into a trance, so it may only work after getting used to files like this.

So I'm not sure, if you can be arsed, it's probably best to follow the program thoroughly, but I don't really think the Curses are really working.

This sounds like an epic idea
"Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?" And the angel said unto me, "These are the cries of the carrots. You see, reverend Maynard tomorrow is harvest day, and to them it is the holocaust."

If this hasn't been stated, I think the whole DV HQ should be on like, a floating island... or just the whole HQ itself is floating high in the sky.

So I've read through the OP and the link to "Paradiso"... And I'm still not exactly sure what I'm reading. Is this some sort of game?

Edit: After doing a bit more reading.. Is it pretty much just an e-course set within software?

Yeap, that's what it is. Its supposed to teach you to create this world of your own by giving you tasks to do each day for 7 days.

Hmm cool idea, I'm not sure how well it would work though.. Aw what the heck, 20 minutes a night? I'll give it a try. Anyone else trying it? Can't hurt.

I'm trying "Infinity" first as well (the thread said to do it first.) If you guys want to keep up on my progress hit up my DJ. The creator of the software says ya should see results within a week. We'll see.

Yeah, I think that's what we decided to do aswell. (The four of us who, err, tried to come up with a design) I mean, Paradiso sort of assumes that you can already become lucid, while Infinity and Lucid Warp actually helps you become better at lucid dreaming.
Personally, I haven't had much success with lucid dreaming, so Infinity would be good for me. But I don't think it would be a problem to pre-make the Dream Space. But yeah, I will be starting Infinity, too, when I get around to it.

Day 1 of Infinity led me to remember no dreams, but that is because it doesn't want you to do a WBTB yet.

I'll edit this post when I upload the fun picture we drew yesterday for four hours.

This is just a basic sketch of the exterior and location. Me, taco, Axel, and Maeni were in the room drawing this up.

Day 1 of infinity: I did my RCs and listened to binaural beats before bed (I didn't like the ones that came packaged and the creator said you could sub your own tracks). Had two pretty decent recalls but I didn't sleep too great. Moving on to Day 2! I think my biggest problem is going to be stopping myself from getting ahead :/

I have about one lucid a week.. I'm just starting out at the paradiso program. Though I might try one of the others later/instead.

And to give a suggestion to the collective dreamscape idea:

      1. I would like to see several small floating islands, linked to the main one. By bridges perhaps?
      2. To make sure that you are lucid after spawning in this place. The main door could be a piece of glass, requiring you to pass right through it to enter.
      3. I would deffinately want to see an old fashioned arena somewhere! Perhaps on another small island?

I like the island idea. Taco suggested it yesterday, but i wasn't listening to him.

I think on each small island, there should be a different type of arena. Like, on one island, a melee arena. On another island, you can only use magic. On another island, a pokemon stadium.

I really quite like these ideas 8D
The drawings we came up with build on the idea of the place being placed on clouds, though, perhaps with a large space out front with solid ground.
But yeah, I kinda like the idea of floating islands, too. It's both dreamy and magical... Myees..

      And by the way, might aswell post that thing I created from the drawing above;

If I get around to it, I'll try and draw something out of the islands idea, but there's just so many things that need to be fit together...

I actually wanna try to sculpture my dreamscape in 3d. This whole "Paradiso" thingy, has given me alot of inspiration.
However my 3d skills are kinda.. I don't know... non-existent?

So far, I've been able to make a box... -_-

      As for the DV dreamscape..
How about having a couple of statues in the front? And/or perhaps in the garden?

Same here I have started using Google SketchUp (which has a giant online "3D Warehouse" of free pre-made models to use) alongside Kerkythea (which renders SketchUp files and makes them look photorealistic). I highly recommend both! If you want to try this out, make sure you get the Kerkythea extension for SketchUp so you can export for rendering and add Kerkythea's special lights directly in SketchUp.

I have a question for those who have gotten farther along in the course: as I create my dream world, are there any things I should do / avoid doing? For example, will a larger and more complex dream world lessen my chances of being able to enter it?

I'm using 3ds max. And going through countless lessons, I'm able to understand most of the tools. After all this study though, I've really not learned to actually MODEL anything. So I guess this "project" will mostly be a long process of trial and error..

      EDIT:
This is what I've made so far

It's basically my "Arena". The hourglass symbol in the middle, is actually tilted. And is the symbol for "Dagaz", a rune of the "futhark" alphabet. This rune in particular represents the day (kinda ironic). It symbolizes transformation, change, rising, etc.

Keep in mind, my 3d skills are indeed NON-EXISTANT
