Getting over terrifying fears in LDs...

Hi. So I'm pretty sure that most of you have had lucid dreams, or at the very least vivid dreams to maybe give me an answer. Whenever I have lucid dreams, well sometimes anyway, I start to sometimes panic and they turn into absolute nightmares.

The scene in Inception where Ellen Page's character realizes she's dreaming and the cafe/street area go nuts and everything starts exploding and losing control, that's kind of what happens. Except, mine is on a larger scale.

Since it's so ridiculously real, I really freeze up in absolute horror. I mean, it's seriously more real than when I'm awake it seems like. One of the things that happens is, kind of reoccurring, when I start to lose control the ocean in my LDs begins to rise. Suddenly, 5 mile high waves literally as big as the sky start to converge on me. I'll be standing in the middle of some street and these GIGANTIC waves will start coming from the distance. I'll know I'm dreaming at this point but it's SO real that I just can't even move. Another reference to Inception, when she made the city street hover above her, kind of like that except with water and extremely violent.

First thing that happens is the area around me gets really quiet and dark, and there's no one around me. Then a loud sound from the distance, like crashing water except it's SO loud and just absolutely gut wrenching when I see it from far away. Then I pretty much just stare at it until it gets closer and what happens next I can't seem to recall. It's usually just me either falling into another dream not being lucid anymore or everything turns black and I stop dreaming or wake up.

Now, everytime I ask people what's the best thing to do they always just say "Well, you're lucid right? You know you're dreaming, so just cause the waves to stop." That's fine, but I'm not the highest level of lucidity at that point. It's usually JUST when I become lucid, and as you probably know... After not being lucid for weeks, it's kind of surprising when it does happen so you don't really have a grasp of the dream yet and your control over the dream-scape isn't that great at that level.

I've have lucid dreams where I was in 100% control of everything. I was so lucid that I realized everything was me, and that any single that happened was a result of a thought and I basically controlled the entire dream universe. But, that's not often. Usually I'm at around 30 - 50% control, with some things being totally easy. (Lifting buildings with my hand, tossing them into the distance at other buildings *A hobby I absolutely LOVE doing in my LDs).

But the same thing also happens with Atomic Bombs. Those are as common as the waves. I'll dream up a bomb hitting right next to me, I look at it in shock as it detonates and the dream will just go ... into white. Nothing but white. I can't control anything, I can't even see myself or the dream-scape anymore and I'll fall back into a normal dream without lucidity or just wake up.

And another thing, talking about it now makes me feel more powerful and I'm thinking "Well duh, it's just a dream. Can't kill you, and you know you're dreaming." But then, I think back to some lucid dreams where I'm hanging outside of a window at like 50 feet in the air and I'm afraid to jump and start flying because I think I'll fall. Because it feels SO REAL. And when it's actually happening, it's too real to be so confident.

So any advice? Maybe some hypnosis audio tapes? Or anything would be awesome.
