Lucid dreaming to reduce crimes?

Ok, after reading the rape thread, I was wondering... could lucid dream help to reduce rapes and crime due to stress and desires? Think about it, if criminals(I'm only using this as a example) could do whatever you want in your DREAMS(Key word, please take note :P), could they not have sex in their LD's to reduce chances of actually raping someone? Or someone snapping and going on a murdering spree because of stress from work, school and just everyday crap? They could just dream, and beat the living hell out of something that's in their own mind, to reduce stress?

Personally I think that there should be some kind of program in prisons to help LD's. I realize that not everyone can't learn LD's but it be worth it to help the ones that can, and maybe prevent repeat offenders. Even set up classes outside of prisons, at like AA meetings and suicides help centers and so on

In all fairness, it wouldn't completely erase all crime, but it could help reduce it. And every bit does matter.

Yes it could, but ultimately it doesn't improve the mindset of the person. The more they experience those events in their dreams, the more eager they'd become to actually do it in real life.

Not entirely.... If desire, self healing and all that crap, are all meet during your dreams, then what is the sense of doing it in real life? Its like eating... sorta. you if eat bread all day then you go to an all you can eat buffet, your gonna be full, so why eat?

I agree with you, but lots of people's actions in their dreams don't completely fulfill their desires, because they're not real.

Yes, but slowly you develop an appetite only for bread. Whats going to happen when you get hungry and the pantry is empty?

I dunno....I guess.... I think this might be one of those things you'd have to actually research with real criminals and people with problems and so on. Cause I think we could all just come up with arguments and counter-arguments.

Touche... But If LD'ing gets mainstream enough, maybe there'd be more developments to improve success rates of LD's

At any rate its certainly a thought. It seems to me that lucid dreaming could be a powerful introspection tool. Maybe a violent criminal asking himself in dream "Is what I did wrong? Was it justified? Why do I do this?" I'm not saying it will cure him, as an effort must be made on his part, as well as realization that what he is doing is wrong. But still, might be useful. Used to be I wanted to do LD for fun, now I see it as an amazing way to learn about myself.

I don't think lucid dreaming on it's own could "reduce crime." Individuals can decide whether not they are going to commit a crime, such as rape. If it's a struggle that they're dealing with to, say, not rape a woman and find that lucid dreaming helps them not do that then I suppose yes.

I wanted to make a post like this in the rape thread, but decided not to for some reason. I'm not sure if it would work, but I certainly think it's possible. I mean, when you rape a girl in a dream(keeping with the original example) it really feels like you're raping a girl. I think it could take some of the edge off, at the very least.

Then again, I recently moved and am really lonely, and all the sex i've been having in my dreams doesn't seem to be doing much for me feeling lonely and horny in real life. lol

If you combine it with the other rehab techniques, it might do something.

Anyway, I think it's a great idea! I think lucid dreaming could be great therapy!

I have used it for self-therapy. I killed a lot of people... in dreams.

I even killed myself, and killed my Inner Child, Peter Pan. Well, I stabbed him in the heart with a ceremonial blade atop stonehenge under a full moon on a rainy night.... but he didn't die. lol

I killed Kathie Lee Gifford... cut her head of with a chainsaw, then it rolled and chased me down the aisle of a church and gnawed on my ankle. 3P1C LULZ

I think it would be cool to lead prisoners in dreams to contact their inner child, and forgive all people that hurt them...

My cousin who was in prison for awhile said a lot of prisoners are into lucid dreaming. They are so bored out of their minds, they lie down and do a lot of astral projection and lucid dreaming.

Well, they already have something in common. They've all been convicted of a crime.
