From my own experience smoking cannabis for 3 years (almost daily). I got to say without any hollowness or downbeat drug story undertone that it does effect your lucidity in an extremely negative way.

When smoking I became tired so easily and never remembered my dreams upon waking. Thought it would help because cannabis is an interesting drug for mind expansion during waking hours (even if is makes you tired) and makes you feel more connected to music, objects around you, yourself, life etc. So why wouldn’t the same idea work for lucidity? (lol).

I’ve not smoked cannabis for about 4 months now and my dream recall has increased by about 300% percent (*no bullshit) I can recall at least 3 to 4 dreams a night, instead of around 2 a week, and I can recognise I’m dreaming and create lucidity around dream signs, that used to be the hardest task while dreaming.

Try and cut out cannabis use to see the effects yourself.

I still try and smoke cannabis but only in my dreams, I smoked so much that I’m sure it will be in my system for another few years (lol).

      So my answer is "No".

i am a daily smoker and i recal avaerage of 2 or 3 dreams a night so id say it doesnt affect your dreams that much unless your chronicly smoking even in your dreams and cant attain lucidity because your too buisy hitting a joint or something hahahajaa

I agree with Mystical -- when I stopped smoking my dream recall went up dramatically.

I don't think this is a cut and dry yes or no for me.

I notice that if I've been good about writing in my dream diary and I've been practicing the techniques: No, it doesn't have very much effect other than for me I notice that my dreams have a lot more animals in them.

However, if I haven't been writing in my dream diary and doing the techniques: Yes, I notice that I will only be able to remember 1 or 2 dreams max, whereas when I'm not smoking, 2 or 3.

Think of it this way, if you are really good at ping pong and your friend is a mediocre player and you get high, you're still going to be able to beat him. However, if you're mediocre at ping pong and you get high, chances are your friend is going to beat you.

When I first started all the exercizes, writing in my dream journal etc., everytime I would smoke before bed I would wake up without being able to remember anything about the dream except for a vague sense of what it felt like. I would try to follow that feeling back and sometimes get a face or a visual or 2 but I could never get the whole dream back. Recently though, as I've been getting this whole dreaming thing ground up and placed firmly in my subconcious, I've been experimenting with cannibis and my dreams. I can now recall an average of 3-4 a night after smoking, and around the same without. One thing I've noticed about these thc dreams though is that they are very distorted. Strange (even for a regular dream) things happen more frequently. I also find it very easy to get into sleep paralysis while stoned. You just have to be ready for the mental fog that it brings with it.

If I'm stoned when I go to sleep, the experience of falling asleep and HI is way more intense but I can never remember dreams clearly afterwarss though. But falling asleep, meditating while high is a good time every once in awhile.

after 5 years of almost daily ritual use, I still dont know if it affects my lucidity,
A few rips before bedtime can put me out pretty quick, and occasionally it helps induce OBE's while coming down from adderall, through sleep paralysis. It is amazing to feel your body step over into dreaming while your consciousness is gradually ripped out of your body.
Sometimes nights with no smoke seems like it takes forever to fall asleep, And I often have dreams about taking bong rips. Since this is my preferred way of smoking It only makes sense that it shows up in my dreams, OH I forgot to ask if anyone else smokes in the dreams have you ever woken up with a really good buzz? I smoke a lot in my dreams but I have only caught a buzz like twice.
Your denial is beneath you, and thanks to the use of hallucinogenic drugs, I see through you.

Cannabis is completely horrible it extremely in a negative way effects dream recall, and if you do remember dreams it will still be horrible. And while in the dream it will be blurry and hard to control. Say No To Drugs When Sleeping. For recreational purposes that's another story.

Almost smoking for a year been a chronic for the last 6 months and when I quit for about a week to see what would happen (I also added b6). I was remembering 3-4 dreams a night instead of none (and if I did remember there would be almost no detail.

I think it all depends on your intentions at the time. In the event that I smoke for the reason of getting high and feeling good, I will (9 times out of 10) have poor dream recall and ability to become lucid. However, when I smoke with the intentions of spiritual enlightenment (meditation, different methods of thinking... ect), I find that I have an easier time attaining lucidity.

Probably the largest factor is the amout of cannabis you smoke... If your stoned to the point of (zero) concentration, than your chances of lucidity are slim to none.

I don't smoke cannabis, but I know that weed decreases the dream-recall for most.

Well i used to smoke everyday until about three weeks ago, i quit for depression purposes and for better dream recall. I will say that cannabis before bed is great i love lying there with a great body high and listening to music and drifting off, but it does make dream recall much worse but your dreams will be very good most of the time! So i wouldn't suggest doing it every night before you sleep just because of dream recall purposes, i wouldn't know about the occasional toke before bed but i would say its defiantly worth trying every once in a while because you really will feel amazing

I voted yes because the question was cannabis before bed? it did not ask about dreaming and cannabis before bed is good! lol
