      Recent Sleep Paralysis Experiences..

So I've had a few not so friendly experiences with sleep paralysis on and off for the past 10 years or so, (pretty much every member of my immediate family has experienced it at least a few times too so I'm thinking it may be genetic) but depending on where I live when they occur they can be more extreme than others. In this house that I'm at now, I've been having some really scary ones, and in one occasion I even got bit by something that left a mark. Last night I got pulled out of a normal dream by some kind of presence, and then I saw myself lying in bed for about a split second before it lifted me out of bed and started tossing me around the room. I couldn't scream, move, or do anything to stop it and I really didn't want to see what was actually happening...all I remember is I kept trying to wake up and I was in and out of consciousness calling my mom's name before I realized she wasn't around and forced myself with all my strength to wake up. Needless to say I've been afraid to go back to bed in my room ever since and am beginning to wonder if maybe SP's really do put us in a place with other, possibly unfriendly entities, and how do i overcome this? I have overcome the feeling of it before and turned it into a pretty cool lucid dream but whenever I feel a presence there I become paralyzed. Has anyone else experienced this? I'd be interested to hear peoples explanations/similar stories.

No such thing as "unfriendly entities" being attracted to someone in sleep paralysis. It makes no sense, seeing that we can self induce sleep paralysis ourselves. The combination of your strange state of mind and inability to move is the real cause of the fear. It's survival instinct. The feeling of a presence manifests itself from a projected fear, and even if you don't believe in "evil spirits", it's very likely still a subconscious/dormant fear - waiting to jump at you, when ever your situation is extraordinary and you feel vulnerable. Being AWAKE in sleep paralysis, is very extraordinary and you can feel vulnerable(but that's up to you). Hah, yes - it is definitely not ordinary, takes time to get used to but eventually you can learn to calm down, relax and just go along for the ride. It's a useful tool for any Lucid Dreamer.
