First Lucid ... or just a Dream?

Hi there,

I would like to share some experiences with you, since I’m not sure what exactly I’ve experienced...

So... :) I’ve been trying to WILD for 5 days now, but that wouldn’t work (not further than "transition phase"). Then, yesterday, I came across the thread "Really’s Ultimate Lucid Mp3 is Here!" and decided to give it a try. (Music + noises + voice saying "This is a dream. Do a reality check now.")

So I went to bed at about 11:00 PM - the mp3 would begin to play automatically at 3:00 AM (once, through speakers, not too loud). Wasn’t sure if that’d wake me up, but yeah: It did. I was pretty awake and failed to WILD, that’s why (after listening to the 12 minutes of "The Ultimate Lucid Induction") I thought: "Wtf... Well, at least it might give me nice vivid dreams" and fell to sleep.

Now for the interesting part ;) I dreamed I was standing in the living room, suddenly asking myself: "This could be a dream!?" (Why? Maybe the mp3 still in mind?) So I checked my hands and since I was able to push one hand through the other I realized that my assumption was correct. Then, stabilized the dream by rubbing my hands, but not too long. I went outside. It was day, but very cloudy. I thought: "Should make it sunny... AND I should fly." So I started floating while saying: "Clouds – away!" The sky seemed to brighten up. "More!" I said, and some more clouds vanished until it was like a perfect summer day.

What next? Just as I was wondering about that question, I saw two friends of mine standing in the garden. They started asking me questions and talking their heads off, but since I had no desire to answer I didn’t say anything. Instead, I decided to fly away.

And - presumably - at THAT point my lucid dream turned into a normal dream I’d say, because as I tried to float away, one of my friends grabbed hold of me and insisted on flying with me. I said: "Let go!" over and over again, but the person didn’t obey and it was very difficult to fly with this weight...

Another fact that makes me think I lost the lucid is that I didn’t notice the dream fading or collapsing. Just ended like my normal dreams: Somehow. Unnoticed.

So, what do you think?? Was this a real lucid? Or did I just... like... "dream" about being lucid, but I really wasn’t?:shock:

yes, you were definitly lucid, you had control about what you were doing, you knew it was a dream thw whole time (well thats what it seems like), so congrats on the lucid that had good control. (wish i could do this)

Awesome lucid dream.

Hey, just a quick note.

Try not to force your dreams. Use passive control, instead of thinking, 'this is a dream! i can do anything!'. passive control is where you think of a reason for something to happen instead of forcing it to happen. Like, for the clouds to go away, the wind might have been going very fast that day. And for flying, think that there is a jetpack or a pair of magic wings next to you, and you can put them on.

If you felt aware or had any sort of "burst of awareness", it was a lucid. If you just said that you're dreaming and continued on, it probably wasn't.

This is a good tip. Don't try to force the dream to do something, instead, it's easier to just expect something to happen. Expect a DC to be around the corner, expect when you open that door for it to lead outside... When you try flying, expect yourself to rise off the ground instead of forcing yourself to flap your arms or whatever.

good job that was totally a lucid by this forum's standard. Also I was reading a (what I thought was) great tutorial on dream control and how passive is better than active, it's kind of long I'll try to post a link but it's going to take some digging around.
