      dream exhaustion...

yes well over the past week i've been having extremely draining psychological dreams. i seem to be over-thinking and over-analyzing everything in dreams... and it becomes taxing. i'll contemplate agendas and motives, risks and consequences, realities and fallacies, behaviors and lack of behaviors. i'll wake up in the night with headaches. whose to say that these dreams aren't a product of these headaches or vice versa but it's becoming a bother. i've started taking melatonin again in hopes of kicking up my lucidity and somehow getting to the bottom of the little problem but it seems relatively impossible to become lucid in these psychologically exhausting dreams. advice?

try to relax some and not consentrate so much on...problems. try meditating or something. try to make your mind more relaxed and peaceful during the day, so that it'll carry on into your dreams and maybe they won't be so stressful? that's all I can think of to do...
I don't know exactly what kind of dreams you mean but sometimes I have dreams that are incredibly um..."bustling" for lack of a better word...where there is alot going on everywhere and maybe I'm trying to focus on a problem that's actually very silly and irrelevant. and it goes on all night long, dream after dream, and all the half-asleep thoughts in between and yeah it's really frustrating and hard to get good sleep :
that;s probably not what you're talking about but I guess they're similar problems, I mean both are preventing good sleep and lucid dreams etc.
I've never actually tried meditating to fix this problem or anything but it's never been consistant enough for me to do anything about it. but, that's definitely what I would try so that's why I'm suggesting it.
maybe it could have something to do with your diet...? has it changed at all? it's a possibility but I'm sure you've thought about it already. I don't know, I probably haven't helped you at all but I'm trying.

my diet hasn't really changed. i was thinking that it could be stress, but these dreams seem to be slowly replacing nightmares. it's rare now that i dream about friends dying and things of that nature... it's more becoming friends are having moral conundrums and i'm trying to explain them in the dreams but to no avail... the bitch is i get stuck in thought and the visuals of the dream tend to blur and i'm trapped in my own head with an unrelenting analysis... finally the pressure becomes too great and i wake up with throbbing headaches. i'll try to relax more but i've had a couple weeks here of deep self-reflection and i'm not happy with what i'm finding. it might just be the literature i'm reading as well. something is unsettling about human regression through violence... making me scared of my genes and what-not.

i'll try to make some changes in daily habit, perhaps getting more sleep would be good too.

      - thanks for the input/perspective, jakelles

I think maybe your too concious in dreams. My suggestion is Be more aware in real life, study things closely, look at them intensely, notice your surroundings, think a lot, this should work your brain throughout the day, that wway your brain will be like Wheeew I was working all day! I need to take it easy, than you LD and your problem might be solved TA-DA.

I might/did phrase that wierdly but I hope you get my drift. ! Let the good times roll!

I think I've been experiencing a similar thing recently, though not quite as strong. I'll wake up at unusual hours of the night, and realize that I've been in a half-awake state thinking pretty hard about various things, and it leaves me feeling drained. I've been sortof tired all week, possibly because of this. My guess is that it's stress related, because thats the only significant thing that's changed for me recently. That, and I've been spending so much time just thinking about various things, some of which I wish I didn't have to worry about.

The first thing to try is eliminating stress where possible, though that can be difficult. It can also be as easy as letting some things work themself out on their own, or worrying about them when you get there, so that you dont have so much on your mind. Take some time for youself to just relax. Read a good book, watch a movie, draw, whatever makes you feel good. Even just writing stuff down to vent can help, even if nobody else will read it.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

I'd be careful if I was you.

What you describe in the dreams sounds like this.
