Should I take a break from lucid dreaming

Ok, so I've been trying to lucid dream for a little over two months now and I have been getting no results. I shouldn't say no results because I got close to a DEILD a couple weeks ago(Got sp). Basically I have two questions. First, for the last 4 days I've been trying to perform the can-wild technique but I keep waking up before my alarm.so what should I do to not wake up before my alarm. Secondly, should I take a break from trying to lucid dream because its been frustrating not getting any results. I've actually stopped doing reality checks the past two weeks because I've been trying to WILD and DEILD. What should I do.

Yes, take a break. If you've only had one and your two months weren't fruitful, take some time off. But at least keep documenting your dreams unless you really wanna take a break. This is coming from a person who had only used DILD for LD's.

I think maybe I'll just start doing reality checks and focus more on DILDs.trying to WILD and DEILD has been screwing up my sleep, so maybe I should just take a break from trying those untill I have my first lucid. Now if continue trying to DILD and I have no luck, then I think I'll take a break. I want to lucid so badly haha.

No i dont think taking a break from LDing is a good answer. But taking a break from Can-WILD would be smart. I wouldnt try it untill you have had at least 10 LD's.

Yea thanks, that's a good idea. I was thinking I should first have some DILDs under my belt before trying anything else, cuz WILDing was just pissing me off haha

Yeah, you should try to DILD way before WILD. Do you have a dream journal? How is your dream recall at the moment? How many LD you had so far?

Well, maybe your attention is divided at the source. Perhaps you should not try to perfect one of a few techniques, but to simply lucid dream.
All that requires is the focus to do one thing in a dream. When I started in the Late 1950's there were no publications, techniques, or anything. And I never gave it much thought until in my mid 30's. I just Played and learned in the state.

Since your mind is designed to effect human will, just focus on doing one thing of your choice in a dream--keep it simple.

I agree with Philosopher. Your goal must not be to have a lucid dream. But using lucid dreams to achieve something you want to do...

My dream recall has always been pretty good even before trying to lucid dream. Most night i can recall 3-4 dreams, I guess i've always been interested in dreams. But that is a great point to start lucid dreaming for a personal cause. I actually do want to use lucid dreaming for other reasons besides having fun. Although i would like to have fun at first. I have had some anxiety problems the past two years and i want to use lucid dreaming for that and to help myself become a little more of an outgoing person.

You're spinning wheels. In a figurative sense, it's more or less the same as the literal sense. If you're driving a car, and as you start moving, supose the road's wet and your tires start to slip. What's the best way to regain traction? Let off the gas untill they stop spinning. The same applies in the figurative sense.

I like that metaphor Supernova. I'm still trying to decide whether I should just lay off lucid dreaming for a bit or if I should just take it from the basics. I feel now that I have the idea in my mind to use lucid dreaming to better myself and have goals for lucid dreaming; maybe my subconsious will see it as important.

I read an interesting theory that, if you put 100% effort into lucid dreaming efforts, it sends your mind the message that lucid dreaming is difficult and thus, it becomes difficult. From my own experience, I've had lucid dreams both when I've been giving 100% to it (and even getting stressed about it) and when I've been forced to take a "break" by outside circumstances.

I say yes because my last streak of 3 lucids happened when I had just moved into my college dorm and wasn't thinking about it at all.

I guess I've pretty much been taking a break the last two days except for going on dreanviews.:)

Yea I've tried that before, but I didn't really put to much effort into playing the "actor" role. I guess I can try it again and take it more serious. If you've done it before how exactly do you do it and did it work? Thanx
