Need a little help/advice you guys ... fear, doubt, believing, moving

Hi everyone. Wow, it's been a while since I've been here. Anyways, let me get to the point, since I have a reputation of being long-winded. ... I've decided to get back into the game of lucid dreaming. Soem of you may recall that when I was here, forever and a day ago, I had said my mom told me to quit the whole dream thing and for a while all my lucids shattered once I realized what was going on. I've never really accomplished much in my lucids but it's still nice to have them, and maybe someday I'll get somewhere, so I need your help. Here's what I need help with:

I need some advice on fear. Fear in the sense of afraid of what's going to happen even though I know I can control it.

I need some advice on belief. Belief in the sense that I KNOW 100% I am dreaming, and how to keep that belief instead of faltering.

I need some advice on stability. I know some say to spin to make the dream stronger, but that makes my dreams weaker when I try it.

And last but not least, I need to know how to get a handle on moving, or maybe not moving?? Maybe the following will help.

This is an example of a lucid dream I had in which fear, and doubt kept me from doing something. 'I'm at my Granny's house and I decide to leave because I don't want to waste my dream this way. I head down a familiar street and see all these people running towards me, and branches all in the street like a terrible storm had passed though. They all looked terrified, and I was curious to know what was going on, but I got this dreadful feeling and decided to go in the opposite direction.' (Here fear of the unknown kept me from exploring, though I was aware I was dreaming) Later on in the dream. ... 'I want to attempt to fly, but I don't believe I will be able to do it, so I don't succeed' (In this instance I wanted to do something, but doubted I could, because I felt it would be too difficult.

What I would like to know is, what can I do to solidify the fact that what's happening isn't real, and that I can control everything if I believe I can? I think my lucids will continue to be dull so long as I don't fully believe.

And the final thing, moving. In my last lucid (a few days ago), I lost my lucidity because in my dream I was running, and I thought that maybe in real life I was flailing in my bed. That thought caused me to feel "myself" and I awoke (later on I realized that it was a second false awakening, but not until I had awakened for real). On another occasion inside a lucid dream (last weekend) I felt myself moving and woke up for real. What can I do about this? Maybe I'm doubtfully that I'm moving? Maybe I'm not really moving at all? i suggest making little steps
start with something simple, like changing the way you look in the mirror, don't move on until you accomplished it. This should build your confidence, so you can attempt more "difficult" tasks with 100% confidence.

Alright, I will give that a shot. And what should I do if a mirror isn't present? I suppose this also forces me to face a fear. I'm afraid to look in mirrors in my dreams for fear I will see a monster looking back at me. haha

If you go to sleep and simply intend on something you can accomplish it. Also be careful with mirror because they can sometimes show you your doubts and fears and cause a nightmare.

The MILDs don't really work for me. Typically my lucids are DILDs, which really have nothing to do with me intending to get lucid. I've noticed that I often get lucid after attempting to WILD while using the WBTB method. So intending to do or not do something will probably be hard. However, once I become lucid I usually automatically think of what I would like to try to do, it just becomes a matter of actually doing it, if you know what I mean. For instance a few days ago my intention was to create a new dream character the next time I became lucid. When I became lucid I said 'oh, now I can make that character', but failed to do so for fear that something I saw in my mind's eye was going to go horribly wrong and turn my dream into a nightmare. I guess you understand what I mean. ... Well, any more advice peoples?? I know you're out there. Don't be shy!

So um, I could still use some help you guys!!

Yell out to the world of dreams that you need assistance and would be very grateful for it, just an idea.

Yeah I suppose I could do that. I remember reading somewhere that if you have a reason for something to happen you can actually make it happen. As a matter of fact I think somewhere on this site I told the same thing to someone else. =) So the next time I get lucid I will make up a reason as to why someone should show up at my door and maybe they will. But hey, if your brain knows your intentions, isn't it possible that it will keep it from happening since it knows you're trying to trick it??? Mmm, I wonder. Thanks though. =)

try deal with some real life fears. once you get over it, it wont be so bad. so that could help you to deal with dream fears

I really don't have that many fears in my waking hours. I mean I don't walk around full of anxiety or anything like that.I fear common things, like being robbed or raped or tortured, stuff that's reasonable to be concerned about especially since it happens everyday. And at the same time I know that being robbed, raped, or tortured is something that I could overcome if it happened. I think I have fear in my dreams because I have been raped and tortured in my dreams and awakened in real physical pain. However I'm aware that it is only a dream so that doesn't stop me from going to sleep, but it has not yet gotten rid of the dread I sometimes feel when I think something evil is about to happen. So what can be done to rid that?

Try this. Before you go to bed, take a cup, and a marker. Write on the cup "LUCID JUICE!" and get something with a flavor from your fridge. Here's where you HAVE TO BELIEVE! Imagination is wonderful here. Tell yourself, "This is Lucid Juice. When I drink it, I will have a perfect stable lucid tonight." Drink it. Believe. Go to bed with the intent on having a lucid.

Try this too. Go to bed when you're actually tired, and concentrate on the insides of your eyelids. When you can't see black anymore, you're dreaming. (duh.)

For stabilization, Rub your hands together. I find that's the best way for me. Screaming "STABILIZE!!!!" messes me up lol. So rub your hands together, TOUCH THINGS! Touch a wall, the bed you may start your dream on, a DC near you, and ALWAYS DO THE NOSE BREATHING RC! That works well. I don't dream spin. I see no use for it, if I like where I am, then I can do other stabilizing techniques.

Fear. Fear, Fear, Fear... Unneeded. Irrelevant. It shouldn't even be associated with Lucid Dreaming. It's YOUR WORLD! YOUR DREAM! Make it yours. Craft it to a masterpiece of your work. No need to be scared. You've always woken up, amirite?

Doubt. Happens a lot. Happened to me. Get over it. That's all I can say lolz. If if happens, it happens. If it doesn't, then try again tomorrow. It's your mind, and you just have to accept that you may not always have a lucid when you want to.

Believing. (SEE DOUBT.) ^^^^ Just believe, and you will achieve, and you will succeed!

Moving. Call your mom or dad or sister or brother in your dream if your having trouble moving. They'll bring a handtruck or a forklift or do liposuction on you if your too heavy in your dream. Anything can happen, remember? It's all a figment of your imagination. It's YOUR figment of imagination. Change it. Do whatever you want with it.

i must admit i do have a few dream fears, e.g i still don't have the confidence to fly through a brick wall, just because i am afraid of the pain that might come (i fly head first so it would be worse on me). once i master pyrokinesis and/or telekinesis i will attempt it :)

Ever since I realized that dreaming is all in your head, I have never had a single nightmare; that doesn't disclude oddities though. :shadewink: Regardless, it all has to do with intention and belief.
In your dreams, I think it's safe to say you truly feel as if they are real, otherwise what would be the point of being scared? Ultimately, as meta2 says, its incredibly irrelevant, once you force the thought of a dream being your creation down your throat.
I find that when I dream, it's either complete random blah (which I can tell), or it is a message from my subconscious. Once you differentiate between the two, no dream will ever bother you; because even if you don't realize your dreaming... scary situations don't scare you. It becomes subconsciously programmed that because they can't hurt you, you won't be scared... at least for me (I don't know if anyone else feels this way).

Hmm, I thought I posted a reply to this but I guess not. Weird. Anyway thanks you guys! The info is quite helpful and I will try to put it to use. ... LOL, I know what you mean about running through things. I've tried running through a door and bounced off it, like not a rubber bounce, but a real bounce from inpact. Wasn't too nice, but it seems I can imagine I'm on the other side and get there, though I can't actually "experience" or "see" myself passing though the door. Maybe you should imagine being on the other side first, or keep in mind that it isn't going to hurt you. What I'd love to do, but am afraid (and actually keep forgetting to try) is fill my bathtub with water, dive in it, and be in like some underwater world and stuff. But anyways, thanks again for the help, and hopefully I'll get some pleaseing results!!
