I find WILDing at bed time incredibly easier.

Last night, without hardly trying(I put maybe ten minutes into this) I nearly WILDed for the first time. I laid on my stomach, focused on my breathing(mainly outward), relaxed my body over and over(I don't know how to explain that, I just let go and pay attention to my body, and think about relaxing, and I do, plus focusing on the sinking feeling when I breathe out), and forced control of a daydream for a few minutes, then just watched the blackness/images and kept focusing on sinking. Soon I felt the wave over my body(going into sleep paralysis), it actually came in two waves, felt amazing, I saw the curtains of color right before this happened, then it felt like, like I was in the blackness I saw, but My heart was racing the entire time, pounding extremely fast, and I couldn't calm it down so I snapped outta it. It was an amazing feeling, I didn't have any vibrations, or sounds occur, just incredibly fast heart rate, and a feeling of waves throughout my body. It scared the hell outta me cuz I wasn't trying to WILD, just trying to relax, that's why my heart was racing, I tried to WILD this morning for nearly thirty minutes, and didn't come close. I believe, for me, doing it at bed time has proven to be a better way about it, so if anyone else is having trouble WILDing the usual way, I recommend this.

Yeah, I will also try lying on my stomach. For me it is so much easier to relax this way than on my back. But anyway, it is always hard to control that rush of excitement, your heart racing. For me it's what's keeping me from having WILDs. I can stay still for long periods of time and relax deeply, but just on that second when I'm falling asleep, there's a rush that snaps me out of it. It's so frustrating. I feel like I don't really control it, that it's my body reacting. I did had once a WILD, unintended and it was so scary, it felt like I was dying that I think my subconscious now is afraid of going through it again although I keep telling myself there's nothing to fear...

Some find it easier to WILD at bedtime but the majority will have problems getting into SP let alone into a dream.
You know the deal, REM cycles and stuff.

About the rapid heartbeat,
Did you still have it after you snapped out of it? A rapid heartbeat is a common hallucination associated with SP.

Yeah I feel way more comfortable laying on my stomach as well! And yeah, I kept trying to slow my pulse down with deep calming breathes, and it worked for a moment, but the waves came and it started again! I was afraid of hearing loud screechy sounds or something equally creepy, cuz i've heard some people hear that, but it never happened:) I'm gonna try again tonight, see how it works out! But I'm sorry that happened to you, just tell yourself before you go to try, "I have nothing to fear, it's only a dream", that may help:) even with regular dreams I tend to be more daring so to speak when I tell myself this, rather than run from people I automatically fight back non-lucidly.

Yeah I can see that, I am narcoleptic so that may be why? And hmmmm, You know I'm not very sure, when I opened my eyes I think it actually went away. I'll keep that in mind! thanks for the heads up :D

Yeah definitely, Narcoleptics generally enter their first REM cycle just after 10 minutes of sleep.

Try not to think to much about scary things, but when you do experience scary stuff or the rapid heartbeat try to remember it's all created by your mind. It's you who's creating all these things. Works for me:)

I don't think SP has as much to do with mentality/expectations effect as your dreams do, but that's just me. One time I entered SP and was expecting something horrifying because I was caught off guard, and a fluffy white kitten appeared in front of me. Then again, everything you experience during SP is in fact created by your mind, so there's nothing to worry about.

And yeah, most people won't find it as easy to attain SP when getting into bed because they aren't narcoleptic. Sleep paralysis is a symptom of narcolepsy, so... :P

Well yeah I sometimes get a bit anxious when in SP resulting in some pretty creepy things (an intruder in my room touching my side with a very warm hand, someone doing a very creepy laugh right beside my ear) Anyways, if I believe that my expectations won't influence my SP, they probably won't (bit of a paradox). It'll at least make me feel more relaxed.

It might have been a coincidence that those hallucinations occured. But again, that's just me. :) Hope it helps, at least to some extent.

It might, I hope it was actually. Then I wouldn't have to worry as much about what I'm thinking (which always leads to thinking about wrong things).
