References to real life

In almost every dream I have, there is something that I saw in that day. In the dream it usually takes a big part but in real life it was only a very small detail.
for example, in a dream from tonight, I dreamt about a security camera because yesterday, there was a conversation about hanging a security camera. in an other dream from tonight, i dreamt about a laser, because in real life, i had a toy gun with a laser light.
does anyone else also have this?

Yes, definitely. Freud called this "day residue" and identified it as one of the sources of dream content. The things we see, do, and feel in waking life tend to appear in our dreams, simply because it is fresh in our mind.

If you change what you do in the day, you can influences your dreams. I've been experimenting this way to do dream incubation, but not much success yet.
