I'm doing it simply because it's so damn fun. I mean all this flying, having sex, just messing around and stuff. And the best part is that it's totally free :D
Good Question......
I look upon Lucid Dreaming as a sort of gateway into other realms of existence, traveling beyond 'waking reality' to unlock the hidden desires of the subconscious and become aware of obscure dimensions of experience. Something akin to ‘Religious Experiences’ I guess…
When I was 21 I experimented with mushrooms and became aware of elements of my brain that I didn’t realise existed – like finding a room with many doorways without knowing what was behind each door. It can take you into many doors you don’t enjoy but once you overcome your demons or become one with your demons you feel a sense of understanding. An understanding that goes beyond simple terminology such as socially constructed words used to describe somthing (love, hate, fear etc) that inherently changes for different individuals throughout their lifes. With lucid dreaming you can look upon life as unchained from the socially restricted rules of ‘reality’, you can do the things you always wanted to do- be it flying in the sky like superman while with your Lois Lane (lol).
Dreaming has always fascinated me and the symbolism behind a vision you flawlessly created in you mind or a mind beyond yourself. I think Carl Jung once said something along the lines of – we are the stage, we are the people in the audience, we are the painting on the wall, we are the cinema screen etc – total awareness of being omnipresent, something like being a God of your own dream realm.
I find Lucidity exciting because of its limitlessness to discover what life is, who you are, what is the universe and what the environment means to us in a spiritual way.
“The dream is the small hidden door in the deepest and most intimate sanctum of the soul, which opens to that primeval cosmic night that was soul long before there was conscious ego and will be soul far beyond what a conscious ego could ever reach” Carl Jung
For me lucid dreaming provides an escape from my everyday routine.
I can go anywhere, do anything and be anyone (it's like taking a fantasy vacation without leaving the house)! :)
I do it for many reasons. I love to explore mysterious worlds that are so beautiful like the myst games. I aslo like to talk to my own mind. Alot of the time i use them to watch a video im editing on beofre i start it in real life. Ill watch the finished product in my dream so i can just immitate it in the real world. My brian is a good editor, lol. Its just fun to vist places from books or movies.
I do it because i want to. I really am the most abnormal person i know, it's actually quite questionable if i really am a person at all. So lucid dreaming gives me a chance to be me and not have everyone stare at me.
And i get away from all the pressures of stuff like school.
and i've been able to do it forever, and even if i wanted too i'm not quite sure i'd be able to stop.

Hey,
Those are all concepts, my dear. What makes you think you aren't the normal one, and any body looking strangely at you isn't looking that way because they're strange?
What's normal? I haven't met a normal human being yet. We are all different, thank goodness.
Don't wear a label like abnormal. You are perfectly normal for YOU, and you will change on a moment by moment basis. So don't even get attached to your own opinions of yourself, or you box yourself in.
But most of all don't make assumtpions about why people stare. People stare at everyone. Really. We all get stared at, out of curiosity, because someone finds us attractive or unattractive, because we have spinach in our teeth, because there is someone right behind us that is actually the subject of the stare, because they like the shirt your wearing or the food your eating looks good, or because they are thinking about their shopping list. Don't assume it's because they think you're abnormal, and if they do, who cares. Aye!
i havent gotten to use it much but origionally i was intrested in it to help get some creativity back from myself i must have felt i lost along the way.
yep, i would have to agree with hate. Lucid dreaming is completely free and its incredibly fun
