Remembering more dreams?
I remember very few dreams, maybe one or two a month, however some dreams I never forget, such as ones I've had years ago and still remember. I have a DJ however it is empty, last night I tried autosuggestion and I think it worked, because when I first woke up, I know I remembered a few bits and pieces of a dream, but I forgot to write it down, and when I remembered that I needed to write it down, I forgot all of the dream.
So, how do you remember yours? What do you do to remember dreams? What should I try tonight? Should I just keep trying autosuggestion?
-
I always tell myself "I will wake up after each dream and remember them." Than in the middle of the night write down little keywords to remind me of the dream than when I wake up I type all my dreams down.
-
Memorize a small number of keywords and/or visual images, depending on what works better for you. And don't force it. I've often found that thinking about nothing at all when I wake up is the most effective way to bring back forgotten dreams.
-
What do you guys mean by keywords though? Like dream signs?
EDIT: Tonight I'm gonna try listening to a few of the files in the stickied thread tonight, should I do that while I'm falling asleep and fall asleep with them on, or should I listen to them until I'm about to fall asleep and then turn them off?

Suppose you had a dream where you were on a flight from LA to Sydney with the Pope. The Pope told you a story about how, as a boy, he rode reindeer in Siberia.
Try to think of 2 or 3 keywords that might help you remember that dream. Probably something like "plane", "pope", "reindeer", etc. So maybe you can't remember a whole dream, but I'm sure you can remember 3 words.
And I wouldn't bother with any audio tracks. That stuff is entirely placebo.
-
But I don't usually remember any of the dream at all by the time I remember to write it down, other than I remember remembering a dream.
-
You remember nothing? Really? Never? Are you on Ambien or something?
-
Maybe once or twice a month I remember a few bits and pieces of a dream but never enough to understand what it was, and on a daily basis I remember nothing. I am not on any medication, I don't drink, and I don't do any drugs, I am a very healthy, in shape, athletic teenager, I get about 6 hours of sleep during the week 11pm-5am and 10-12 hours on weekends, usually around 12:30am-10:30am.
EDIT: For instance the only reason I remember anything about this dream I believe is because I kept telling myself I was going to remember my dream as I fell asleep, and now all I remember of the dream other than remembering I remembered is a single image, my mom sitting on a triangle shaped brown chair with a black background.
-
6 hours of sleep? Doesn't sound very healthy to me.
All I can say is, you can't do something you don't believe you can do.

Well my bus picks me up in the mornings at 5:45 so I can't get up much later, and I get in bed at 10 but don't usually fall asleep until 11 or later, but I take a nap 2/5 weekdays, I'd say 2 or 3 hour naps.
Last night I tried autosuggestion again, and when I woke up, I remembered part of a dream, I remember nothing of the beginning, and it seems the first thing I remember was very distorted, and as it went on it got clearer until just before where I woke up, which was extremely vivid. It also seems that the more things around me in my environment to perceive, the less vivid things become, for instance in one part I was out on a street in a large city and everything was distorted because I was seeing so much, and in another part I was in a small room with a woman and I remember what the environment looked like, and how the woman looked aside from facial features which were distorted. I think autosuggestion is working for me.
-
Yes autosuggestion should work,it always works for me.Keep trying and in time you'll be able to remember almost all the details of your dreams.
-
Well Friday night was the first time I had heard of LD and I tried autosuggestion, I was wondering, how long do you think it will take me to have my first LD? I know different people have their first at different times, when did you have your first? I'm thinking it'll take me a month to get my dream recall down, and then it'll take me another month to have my first LD. So I'm hoping to have my first LD towards the end of February.

Your timeline sounds about right, IME.
-
Awesome, I'm so glad I discovered lucid dreaming, they sound amazing.

They really are amazing. I wish more people knew about them. Just give it time, practice and in time it will happen.
