I am currently taking Lorazepam(correct spelling?) and it puts me to sleep (I sometimes have restless periods). I was just wondering, does it (and other sleep inducing drugs) affect your ability to LD? I am going to bed now, without it so I will see this post after school.
usually if it puts you to sleep it messes with you REM periods. i don't know anything about lorazepam however.
Any drug that supresses your higher brain functions can mess with your ability to lucid dream, this includes lorazepam as well as alcohol.
I've not had experience with this drug, but I do know that when I take some cold medicines or have a few glasses of wine that my chances of having a lucid dream fall to almost zero.
Now, with this in mind, please do not stop taking your meds. just to have lucid dreams. I am assuming that you are on these for a reason. The human brain will find ways to compensate, secreting different chemicals and such to counteract the effects of most drugs, so, if you have been on this med for a while, perhaps it will NOT affect your ability to LD.
Abosolutely YES. Any sort of benzodiazepines, tranquilizers, alcohol, etc. will seriously inhibit your ability to lucid dream and pretty much make your dream recall disappear all together. I know from experience. It's like you go to bed and wake up the next day not remembering a THING. That's no fun. It sucks.
i've taken codeine-based painkillers before now, and they knock me so far out, that i don't dream...
simple.
i don't take them anymore...i also get rebound headaches the next day, so it ain't worth it...
The main reason i am on these is just because I do not sleep well enough at night not any sleeping disorderal reasons, but just I don't sleep wellduring the holidays, we also had a strike recently, and I doo hoo believe that's a reason to celebrate. it's just temporary, no reason for me to really be on them, other than to get my senses used to getting to sleep FAIRLY early. Doctor prescribed, not some crazy idea.
replying to lucidnina's post, these actually make my Dream recall better, but non lucid dreams are no fun, especially when Jabba the Hut asks you to play ping-pong with him.
