question from a newb
I know there is already a Newb section but it doesn't seem to get as many views as this section, hope my posting here isn't a bother. Let me know if it is.
So I'm fairly new to all this stuff but I do have excellent recall(pretty much every night) and I have lucids fairly often for a beginner(about 1 or 2 per week). The thing that has been frustrating me is that i have ZERO control when I am lucid, I can't control the world around me or change anything about myself or my abilities, I can't even decide where I want the dream to take place. Pretty much the only thing I can do is recognize that I am dreaming and explore the world, and simply becoming lucid without instantly waking up took quite a while for me to accomplish.
Last night I had my first dream where I had some sort of control. I woke up after about 5 hours of sleep and had a few hours left before I had to be at work so I went back to sleep. I have plans to take my girlfriend and her little sister to the movies later tonight and I started thinking about that as I was falling asleep for the second time. I ended up having a dream that took place in the movie theater and my girlfriend and her sister were both there. I still couldnt manipulate the dream world but at least my mind was able to determine the setting and characters. Not a HUGE accomplishment I kno, but it's a step in the right direction.
If anyone knows what technique this is exactly please let me know so I can look up tutorials on it so I can build on what seems to be the technique that most naturally fits me personally. Also, if anyone has personal tips on how to improve on this I'd much appreciate it.

Possibly self-imposed restrictions, the first step to control is understanding that it's your dream and that anything is possible if you want it to be.
I'll just put this link directing to the Dream Control Tutorial, and if you have any questions after reading through that, then go ahead and ask.

Hah, automatic linking. Shweet.

Dammit,
Similarly, I could resist:
"Do you think that's air you're breathing now?..
Hmm."
