What is it that makes you personally want to fight in lucid dreams? I have never had the desire to do battle in my sleep. I've always been content exploring and helping DCs. Do you just get bored? I look forward to reading your responses.

1) Fictional battle is fun and exciting.Quote:

Are the DCs actually a challenge? I think it would be to easy to just slaughter them.
It depends on many things: The impression of power that the DC gives me; how 'involved' in the dream I am (whether or not I'm particularly upset with the character, or just passively fighting them); how vivid the dream is (characters in extremely vivid dreams are usually more of a challenge, and superpowers can be harder to use); etc.
I've had my ass kicked, pretty well, in some lucid dreams. In fact, there is a certain, old, blind, kung fu master who I'm still waiting to get revenge on...
That sounds like fun. The reason I don't fight has to do with zombies. I was about to kill one in a very vivid non lucid dream. But right when I was about to pull the trigger, he spoke to me. I looked into his eyes, they showed so much emotion and fear that I couldn't shoot. He begged for his life. Even though it was a dream I never want anyone or anything real or a dream to look at me that way.
I haven't had a fair fight in a lucid so far. All DC's in my dreams are either super friendly, or pretend to be. I guess I'm too lucid and confident. It does feel like I am close to meeting someone on my level. Last fight I had, I grabbed a girl with telekinesis and slammed her wall to wall. Two more people came in and I wrapped them all up in a chain with telekinesis. The feeling when I woke up was amazing.
I am like Oneironaut, I like sparring and competing IRL. Also I seem to be very power hungry in my dreams.
Hmm very interesting. Maybe I just need to fight robots.
Heh. Well, to each his own. In that particular situation, I probably wouldn't have killed that particular zombie. But, odds are that there would have still been hundreds of others, trying to eat my brains, so I would have went right back to business as usual. Knowing my brain, though, that zombie would have just told me that to cause me to let my guard down, and then he would have jumped on me and started eating me. Lol.
I blasted enough zombies after that. But that one zombie just freaked me out. If I'm getting attacked I fight back but I never go looking for a fight. I've also never had a real lucid fight. Maybe it will be fun. I just need to get better at becoming lucid first.
Well that's pretty much the same with me. I also never kill "innocents," in my lucids. It just so happens that about 90% of my dreams involve somebody or something trying to kill me or other innocent people, so I'm never left with a shortage of baddies to do battle with. BUt yes, it's a lot of fun. Lucid combat is one of my favorite things to do. :putemuppunk:
Hmm I'll have to give it another try. Just no zombies XD
This one time these annoying DC's were singing in my dream, it made me mad. Not to mention it was annoying, so I summoned meteors to try to kill them and it didn't work. I have had a couple of LD's where I became lucid in the middle of a battle. Like this one time I became lucid and I was Toph, from Avatar: The last Airbender. There was a giant robot trying to kill me so I Earthbended at him, making him stumble and die. It was pretty epic and very lucid. That's probably my best LD fight ever.
Hey thanks for the response that seems like a very cool battle.
I haven't had any lucid fights yet  but when i do, i am gonna smash the shit out of anybody. It's just fun, ut's just like a computer game except your "living" it out
Sometimes I'm already fighting before I'm lucid. Sometimes DC's show up in the middle of nowhere, and try to cock block while I'm having sex, and then there are other times, when I'm trying to accomplish a goal that requires defeating a DC in a certain setting. For the most part, the fight comes to me. I don't come to it.
Hmm interesting responses you two. Thanks.
Eh, I never fight in my dreams either. My dreams are always peaceful though, even boring sometimes... plus I haven't been practicing like I should, so it's rare for me to get lucid dreams. I guess I figure I have "better things to do", you know? I am a pretty peaceful person by nature anyway. I get plenty of fighting in playing video games. Besides, after browsing through the Beyond Dreaming forum for long enough, it makes me wonder...
Yeah really lol. I'm wanting to try fighting now that I've read some of these responses. I just need to get lucid again.
I don't do it often but when I do, it's mostly because a dream character or two refuse to go away. Normally a DC goes away when I want it to but sometimes I'll run across a strange one that just has a weird... vibe like it's dangerous or something. :P I've got my ass kicked a couple times though and woke up as a result which sucks cuz like, I should be unstoppable in my own dreams. Sometimes I'll be in the middle of a dream where I'm a soldier, spy, etc and then become lucid. During these instances, I like to keep with the plot and fight when need be.
I prefer experimenting with various techniques and finding people in dreams rather than fighting though.
I'd like to fight to fight in my lucid dreams sometime. In my normal dreams so far there was one where I was escaping cops and doing martial arts at the same time. Another one I had was gun fight and someone shot me in the head with a shotgun and I woke up.
Some strange notions. Let's discuss.
I suppose it could be, but we can play video games at any time. Maybe if you're doing something you can't do in a game, like set off explosives (in games, explosives almost never do real structural damage to buildings)
First, if you're lucid you should already know that all DCs are just constructs of the dream and are therefore manifestations of your own subconscious. To fight them is to fight yourself. Better would be to understand them, and thus understand yourself.
Second, if you really want to get rid of a DC, if you're lucid, you can simply delete them. Sight unseen, literally. If you need to "fight" them, then you're not lucid. Because it means you believe they have the power to defy your will.
Fair enough. Although, personally, adding physical violence to a scene doesn't enhance it.
If dream sparring is in any way helpful to your skill building in real life, then that's a valid reason.
I thought this was a lucid dream. The story is your own making. Do you go around bragging about the cool things you did in a fantasy? Well, lucids aren't any different. It's still YOU creating the whole situation to begin with.
Now, if you're bragging about the technical aspects, like how cool it was that you could shoot fire from your foot, then yes. But if you brag about how you killed an evil DC (that you created!) in a lucid dream, that's just weird...
You can become lucid in the middle of a dream-plot and choose to go along with w/e you were "supposed" to do before attaining lucidity. Once I had a dream where I was running from the police and while climbing a fence, I noticed my hands. I realized I was dreaming and instead of exerting control over the DC police, I went along with the "story" by allowing the chase to continue. Knowing I wasn't in any real danger, I led them into an alley and began picking them off one by one for the hell of it.
A troll isn't simply a rude or annoying person. People throw that term around much to often. =/
Oh, God. Here we go...
How about actually being in the game? How about mobility that's not limited to the gaming framework? How about being able to change and/or control nearly any aspect. Do nearly anything? How about an experience that is so much closer to waking life than any game could ever hope to accomplish, with an infinite amount of disk space?Quote:

If you say so. Personally, I believe that's a crock. I've fought King Kong in a dream. Are you saying that he's some "part of myself" that I should try to understand? He is a fictional character which made his way into my dreams (because I'm a huge fan of movies and movie characters like that), and were I not lucid, I would have probably spent the dreaming running around for my life, instead of taking a stand. On what authority do you profess to tell me what I should be doing with my dream characters? Sure, I believe that there are some characters that I can learn a lot from by analyzing them. But which ones I decide to take that approach with, like much else, is a matter of personal opinion and/or musing.Quote:

It is a matter of 'wanting' to fight them. It is entertainment. It is a sense of adventure. When I'm in such a scenario, I don't try to impose my will on them. That takes the fun out of it. My challenging DC's often leave me feeling more fulfilled than the ones I can just walk all over. You're telling me basics of dream content as if I'm not already aware of them. The difference is that I choose to approach them differently. It is a matter of personal preference.Quote:

3) As far as I'm concerned, it depends on the scene. If I'm dreaming that I'm in a tomb or cavern, or some other archetypal video game-like setting, I'm going to expect for there to be monsters and demons and whatnot within. And if I'm lucid, I'm going to relish the chance to do battle with them.
The reason is valid because - in case you missed it - the reason has to do with my own perspective. You can't even begin to tell me why I, personally, enjoy sparring in real life, so you can't begin to dictate what reason I have to enjoy sparring in my dreams, for it to be valid. Also, if you've done any of your homework, you would know that lucid dreaming is a great arena to practice waking life skills, even physical ones.Quote:

Are you on drugs? Many of the people of the site use superpowers. Many of them are better than it than I am. So my "bragging" about superpowers, as if they were out of the ordinary, would be stupid. I was simply answering a question, stating that I enjoy using such powers in combat. Again, please quote where I'm bragging. As far as killing an evil DC that "I created," I'll direct you back to response #2, above.Quote:

I experience much the similar. I spend the majority of my dreams in "stealth mode" doing lucid black ops dreaming missions, in which there is constantly the threat of capture, pursuit, and 'death'.... being adept in dream battle marks the difference between a successful mission and a failed one.Quote:
