How long have you gone without any lucids? I've heard of some pretty bad droughts, so it might be a good idea to compile them all into one complaining thread.
My current drought: 2 months/61 days, 153 dreams recalled.

you mean a dryspell? the longest I went was a year because i wasnt trying really, but even recently I've had lucid dreams once a month before coming back to it seriously kinda lucky I guess. good luck with your lucid dryspell man.
Changed the topic for ya :D Hmm.. I've had a dryspell which lasted about a month, sucked!
Im in one, well i only had 2 and haven't been able to get a lucid since then. My dryspell has lasted 5 months :/
haha reminds me of some the threads back in '07 and in 08' the "motivational threads" like "Who needs a hug" or "Compliment eachother so we can get lucid"... hahah kinda paraphrased the last one, but you get it.
GMoney you have the skill and potential to go lucid! so do it tonight!!! I BELIEVE in you! :)
Ha, my LDs are so far in between I don't notice dryspells! I never took it seriously enough to get decent at inducing them. Hoping to get back into it.
Well someone on the forum posted saying that he finally had a lucid dream in 9 years O_O
me exactly 1.5 month I just had A very crappy lucid dream lastnight
9 years!? Wow, that's definitely motivating. I feel good about myself now, and 2 months doesn't seem that bad anymore! :)
And thanks, Nufeather1! I will go lucid tonight! :mwahaha:
Believing in yourself is probably the key to this. I'm personally trying a DILD/MILD combo right now ( doing RCs throughout the day and using mantras and relaxation when I'm about to go to sleep). No succes so far, but I've only been at it for 2 days. About the dryspells: my advice is to try WILDing. Works very well for some
Righ now I'm in one but my longest drought was like two months.
(after I started regularly getting LD's
About 3months now... :(
Still finding a way to break through it...
-sam
As of now I haven't been able to WILD for almost 18 months, although I can still DILD.
Edit: forgot to post my longest actual dryspell! It lasted around a week.
while trying to induce them - a little over a month. If I'm not trying then I might not have one ever again, but my dryspells typically last a month to two months.
hmm.. about 3 months, but i took a break from it. Then i had an awesome LD a few weeks ago and came back :D
Longest was about 6 weeks. More typically, I have dryspells of about a 5-10 days. In retrospect, my dryspells usually happen after a wave of success when I become too confident and then complacent. I break the dryspells by getting back to basics and focusing on dream recall and diligence to do WBTB.
lol i haven't had a lucid dream since august. So about, 4 months then. I'm focusing on doing RCs throughout the day but that's just recently. And WILDing seems to take a lot of practice/meditation. Any tips from the veterans?? i see sisyphus wrote "going back to the basics". Wondering what EXACTLY these basics are and why I'm missing them....... but dream recall is excellent. Remembering dreams every morning.
I'll offer these as my "basics." These are the things that, if I do them all, I have a high chance of becoming lucid. When I let any of them slack, it tends to lead to a dryspell.
- Get a good night sleep. Especially relieve stress and let go of worrying about other things. Sleep time is just for sleep and dreams.
- Analyze your dreams. What were the dreamsigns you missed? What would you have done if you had become lucid?
- Set goals. What do you want to do in your next lucid dream?
- Be diligent and consistent. Write down your dreams every night. Be hopeful to become lucid every night.
- Be determined. When you wake up in the middle of the night, overcome the urge to just fall back asleep mindlessly. Remember your goals and intention. Visualize them happening in your next dream.
- Be open and patience. Enjoy whatever dreams or experiences you have. Don't be discouraged or self-critical if things don't happen on a particular night.
I had a dryspell for almost two years, mainly because I wasn't trying/there was too much work I couldn't go to sleep on time/I was up chatting. :\
Now I've been having a dryspell since the 7th of January. COME ON LUCIDS COME MY FUCKING WAY!! :panic:
Also thanks for the advice, sisyphus!
I just ended mine after months. But I wasn't really trying so...
