A dream is real while it lasts. Can you say any more of life?

These are the words that have been ringing in my head for the past hour. I just got done watching "Dreams: Cinema of the Subconscious" on my inception Blu-Ray disc... Whoa.. That last bit REALLY sparked the philosophy major in my being.. Really.. It's so true but it's really mind boggling... I just couldn't find an answer to this statement. Thoughts?...

I say two things to this.

Reality is relative.
&
You can't measure one reality from another reality.

When in the waking world you remember dreams as foggy non-real ghosts. When you are in the dream you do the same and half remember waking life. It doesn't even seem all that important to remember waking life when in your dream life. Its even hard just to remember simple things like where you live in waking life! Reality is real for the reality you are in at the time. You know while in the dream world that the dream world is fully real and true. You can't measure one reality from another reality, its like measuring a straw in the water from the air, there are many distortions caused by the differences in the 2 environments.
sssssssssssss Which one is the real straw?
If you were in the water you'd say "OH that's where the straw is, now it is all so clear and makes so much sense to me!" Then you'd look outside the glass at the air-world and see how it looks all distorted and unreal. After this you'd realize that both worlds were real in their own right and you did not find truth from an alien vantage point.

I say they are both real and its only our distorted view of the other that makes us think otherwise.

Heh, wow! Bravo, Caden! That analogy was quite impressive if I do say so myself.. Thank you for giving me this new viewpoint on reality. But of course anyone elses' is accepted. Keep poting everyone!

IMO you yourself decide whether something is reality or not. Every human being clings to what he/she knows and understands and labels it 'reality'. It doesn't necessarily mean you're right about it. Everyone has his/her own reality, and we all live with some wrong assumptions. So a dream can be reality, but it can also be an illusion. It depends on how you look at it. Hope this doesnt make it any more difficult :p To put it simple : reality is what you think is true, and it's a world of what you know and understand.

Everything that exists is real.
