No Need for Stabilization

In every LD I've had, I've kept at least three senses active to stabilize and perhaps prolong the dream. This morning, however, stabilization was an afterthought. It might have been because it was a DILD, but the dream was so perfectly stable that the idea of rubbing my hands hadn't even crossed my mind. The one thing I did notice was that I was a lot more calm than any other LD, and I simply went with the flow instead of getting too excited about it.

So, is stabilization more necessary for WILDs than DILDs? Are some dreams just more fluid than others? Or is calmness the best way to keep things stable?

the times i have remained uber calm and gone more with the flow of the dream have been the longest, most stable lucids ive had.

however, going with the flow tends to make my recall sketchier.

but ive had tons of short LDs where i wish i would have taken a minute from the get go to stabilize and deepen...

I think it depends on where you are in your REM cycle. So with DILDs, stabilization might be less of a concern if you become lucid right at the beginning of a long REM period. But I guess if you WILD at the right time in your REM cycle it might be the same. I have to do the most stabilization during shorter REM periods.
