Help! Semi-Lucid SP encounters??

I used the stop drop and roll technique and put myself in what felt like full sleep paralysis. I then started getting hypnotic imagery in my mind, and I let it manifest and grow stronger, fighting the urge to open my eyes if that urge came.*

It did grow stronger, and as I entered SP I felt a strange sensation that I was sliding from the bottom of my bed to the top ( I would say this was the paralysis wave).

However, then I got a few vibrations, however I felt a very strong presence above my head. Knowing not to open my eyes during SP, I just let it pass..

Until I felt the corner of my pillow get picked up. I still remained still, and then my bed started moving.*

That was it. I opened my eyes and laid flat on my back.
Looking at my hands, they were dead white, especially the one that wasn't resting my head.

I feel this was my closest LD encounter, but it felt like an LSD user's "bad trip".

P.s, I do not use LSD :P

Any comments would be helpful,

Okay, reading a little more told me that during hypagognitic or whatever hallucinations there may be whispers and other feelings close to you. It also said this is can be a scary encounter, but usually means the start of full sleep paralysis.

What you experienced is normal in sleep paralysis. Ever heard of people waking up to think there's someone sitting on them? Or an eerie presence by the side of their bed, and they can't get the person off/move? That's sleep paralysis. Take it as a good sign, you're getting somewhere, just try to stay calm and ignore the weird sensations next time. :)

Side-note: Doesn't sound anything like a bad trip on psychedelics. Psychedelics don't make you see people that aren't there or anything like that, I've had my fair share of bad trips and most of them just consist of feeling really bad about who you are - then hopefully, making positive changes once your trip is over. Not really related but I thought I'd add that in since I remember thinking psychedelics were a lot like your description before I tried them haha.

You're very close! That is a great description of a typical sleep paralysis experience. You can try to interact with the "presence" to fully enter the dream. Ask it for help.

Okay, so I can get to and through this stage, but then nothing else happens?
I remember reading that after that you should use exit techniques?
It's just I can get to that stage fairly easy, but it never gets any higher or more visual than that.

JakeQuade, this actually sounds like sleep paralysis and successful transition into LD to me. You said that after SP had faded you looked at your hands and they looked different, being "dead white". It sounds like to me that when you looked at your hand you were in a full lucid dream, considering this is one of the ways to reality check is looking at your hands and seeing if they look different. Apparently yours did = ld. Did you just go to sleep regularly after you "realized" the attempt had failed? It is very common for new people to mistakingly roll over in the ld, and drift into a non-lucid dream..

@atkins513, I used reality checks at that time and safely assumed I was awake.
I think I just worked myself up heaps coz I didn't know what was going on :P

Thank You very much. I appreciate that. It seems strange to me that your hands looked different though and you weren't lucid... what reality checks were you using to confirm true reality? There are some known to wrk much much better than others... Some people unknowingly use RC's that depend on imagination or dream control and those will fail based on your own belief of whether it will work or not.. not actual reality or non reality.. for instance, the finger thru the hand rc works for many people.. but it would still be very possible for your mind to not let you stick your finger through the palm of your hand no matter how hard you tried... if you are interested, I know a few RC's that are almost 100 percent.. let me know.

I used the reality checks of pinching your nose and trying to breathe,
Pinching my arm and feeling it, and closing my eyes, whether I could still see or not.

I was wondering that too, about how I looked different but it was a dream, but I've read a post in which a guy opened his eyes during sleep paralysis and saw a face staring down at him :|

I'll post here for now so the information can pass onto others seeking the same information.

The nose pinch RC is one that I know to be the most reliable. You pinch your nose closed, hold your mouth tightly closed, and breath in and out deeply.. if you cannot breath, you should be in reality, if you can breath, obviously you are dreaming.. Even this RC somehow can fail sometimes but as far as I know this is one of the most accurate. Closing your eyes and pinching your arm both rely on input from the brain and can easily fail. Sometimes I can see and sometimes I can't see when closing my eyes... and pain can be very real in dreams so pinching your arm can easily fail also.. Breathing related RC is one of the most reliable reality checks because breathing is one of the few bodily functions which, within limits, can be controlled both consciously and unconsciously. Most any other RC requires imagination and can and cannot fail based on the true desire of the mind. This is why the nose pinch rc is one of the most successful. I am currently testing a similar method using breathing but movement free.. see info below..
