How to have a dream in 10min.

[size=24]I've discovered how to have a dream in 10 min

How often do you wake up for school in the morning and groan, "i wish i could have just one more hour of sleep!" I know i do every morning. That's how i discovered this:

First off, every night before i go to sleep, i now set my alarm clock for 4:00am. This way, when i wake up at 4, i say to myself as usual, "i wish i could have one more hour of sleep" and i can. So for me, it feels like i got an extra 2 hours of sleep, when really i didn't. I kind of "trick" my mind into being more refreshed, because now when i wake up, i sort of feel like i got extra sleep.

As time went on, i felt like i wanted more sleep. So i set my alarm clock in intervals of 30 min. I set it for 4:00am-wake up, want more sleep-set clock for 4:30am-wake up, want more sleep, set clock for 5:00am-wake up, want more sleep. after 5 oclock, i then started setting it in intervals of 15 min. so i set the clock for 5:15am-wake up, want more sleep, and so on until about 5:40, then i set it in intervals of 10 min until it's 6:00am by that time, i'm so sick of setting my alarm that i just wake up. (i guess it helps me get up in the morning) But i realize, even though i only got 10 min of sleep, i can still have a full dream. WHY IS THAT?

I've discovered how to have a dream in 10 min...rather than nearly 4-5 hours to get to REM period and have a dream.

      Pretty interesting.

I think what's happening is that you're so tired just after waking up that you slip right back into dreaming and spending less time in the early sleep stages.

I've noticed this happens to me - although without an alarm clock. I seem to wake up between 4 and 5 am ALL the time (not sure why). But sometimes I can slip right back to sleep and dream. Since it's the later dreams I remember them better.

A few times I tried WILD after waking up but ended up staying up the hole time - must have been to anxious.

What's happening is you're interupting the REM cycles, then when you go back to sleep you reenter them rapidly. Then, time expansion occurs and the dream, which may only last a few seconds in reality, seems to last quite a while in your mind.

Yeah, thats basically what WILD is, it just skips some stages.

Yeah, i have noticed that when i'm on a summer vaction, i tend to automatically wake up at the normal wake up time without even wanting, because i've been doing it all year... So after i wakeup automatically, it seems like only seconds untill i go back into my dream, which is a great opportunity for an LD if i remmember to do reality checks.

This reads like symptoms of an addiction... as time goes on the amount that used to do it for you doesn't do it anymore and you need more and more and more and more until finally it controls you.

No offense meant; just an observation I had.

Also the longer you sleep, the faster REM comes. I doubt waking up will cause you to miss any sleep in the first two stages, and as long as you get that its not going hurt any.

You will dream after about 10 minutes anyway, if you sleep for about 5 or 6 hours first. Might be easier to do that. Waking up like that will help with lucid dreams too. I remeber once I did something like that. I was didn't set the alarm but I kept waking up to check the time. Had like 7 lucid dreams. They where all short and 3 where false awakenings but I guess its something.

There is a very clear reason for that dream-scape. Sleep deprivation is cumulative. Lets assume your an average person and you need 8 hours of sleep a week. If you sleep 7 hours a night for a week then its the same thing as skipping a full night of sleep. Even if you slept 8 hours a night every night from then on you would always be 7 hour behind. Basicly the effect keeps getting worse because every time your even more tired than the time before. And tricking your mind into thinking it rested doesn't give you any more sleep.

That happens to me all the time. I wake up at 7ish when my husband goes off to school, and am up for a little while, and then I fall asleep until about 8 or so when my son gets up, and without fail I dream in that 30-45 minutes. Its pretty awesome because I am almost guarenteed to dream and because I dream that soon after I fall asleep it is quite often lucid....works for me.
