If you fall over in real life you'll wake up, just because your body doesn't want to hit the ground while you're still asleep. But in a dream, the sensation of falling itself won't wake you up, nor will acceleration or feeling the wind blow past you. It's just if you become too excited. That's why some people can fall from high places and such without waking up, because they have experience and know how to control how excited they get. Either that, or they have a higher threshold for it.
Actually, some people with very deep sleep won't wake up even after falling, it is quite amusing to watch lol
But yeah, the kick only seems to work in the movie, and I guess for some people, but it isn't universal.
I don't think thats all wrong. I have woken up from a sudden jolt of shock in my chest. I literally felt like I was falling through my bed, then BANG woke up in a flash. But I wasn't falling, I was n the middle of my bed.
So maybe if you fall by accident in a dream then maybe it can cause that sudden sensation in the brain to trigger a "kick".
Well, yeah, your body will feel the falling sensation and will wake up so it can take action and protect itself. Though you may not notice if you are in a horizontal position, though, (in other words, rolling off the bed) unless you land on something that turns out to be unpleasant or hard. People with deep sleep can usually be more tolerable of falls, though. ;)
I fell once in a normal dream and when I woked up I jerked as if I really was falling, I think I woke up from the intensity.
Apnea is SP, but while asleep. Not a breathing problem, please tell me the wiki here doesn't says that...
Also, the jerking thing is pretty normal, but I thought that only wakes up people when they are just falling asleep?
Ohh no I didn't look here. I went on google and every link said it was a breathing disorder. Not so much a SP.
Thats even worse! I wonder why, ah well whatever, might be confusing the terms then, I'm sure the sleeping SP has another name that is similar, maybe I'm wrong.
I'll look on the wiki if sleep sp has another name.
anyone wanna try and test it if they plan on lucid dreaming soon?
What is this about Sleep Apnea? It's a breathing problem. Maybe they got confused with REM Atonia?
