semi-lucid nightmare
Last night i woke from a very vivid non-lucid dream. When i got up i was thinking about the dream i just had and was annoyed that i didnt become lucid in it. Anyways i got up out of my bed thinking about lucid dreams and awareness and just as i got to my bedroom door i thought that my room looked disorientated and blury and that i must be dreaming.. just as a thought this i felt a person drag me to the floor and i let out a big scream then i woke up in my bed breathing very heavily.
This is my one problem. Whenever i become slightly lucid in a dream i wake up because something really frightens me.

This is a common experience for many people because the area of the brain responsible for fear becomes very active during some stages of Lucidity.. Therefore one of the very first things many people experience are frightening.. I have experienced this myself many times.. the solution is to understand that non of it is real and expect something different to happen.. many times you can change the experience.. If you search my recent started threads you can see my experience with this, entitled first encounter with the old hag... as "old hag" is a common nickname for this experience.
