I have read the book (Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming
by STEPHEN LABERGE) and realize there are parts that need to be practiced. Can anyone recommend a second book that I might read to help me gain the ability to have LDs. haven't had one in weeks. Thanks

1) Lucid Dreaming: A concise guide to awakening in your dreams and you life (Stephen La Berge)
2) Lucid Dreaming: Dawning of the clear light (G. Scott Sparrow)
3) Lucid Dreaming and the Art of Dreaming Creatively (Pamela Ball)
I love searching for books about dreaming in bookshops, look through the lucid dreaming section (if it has one) and if its cheap and the information is good i usually buy it (lol).
You have already read one of the best. Maybe read The Art of Dreaming by Carlos Castaneda to broaden your horizons a little?
Ive always wanted to read the Art of Dreaming, after reading the Alchemist , i was really impressed with his style of writing, i would love to read more Castaneda.
Dr. Ann Faraday's "Dream Power", comes in and out of print. You can get it used. A venerable old book on Dreaming with a few pages on Lucid Dreaming, but the book is great for working on the Intensity and Importance of your Dreams. Quality in dreams is sometimes better than mere control.

I am not sure wich addition that you have or if you aware that ETWOLD has a two addtions. They are very similar but the 1990 version has some things added to it. The other version is 1988 I think. That is the best book out there in my opion.
I could name a few though that you may find helpful.
Patricia Garfield would be your next best source. She has several books on dreaming and lucid dreaming.
I have, Conscious dreaming, by Robert Moss. It has a lot more spirituality involved with it.
The Dreamers way , by Rosemary Ellen Guiley, Ph.D. I am not all the way through this one but it is not bad.
I do not know what and where you are in terms of lucid dreaming. In my opion though, no matter where you are getting a book on awareness is a great way to go. I rented the ones that I read from the library. I don't recall any of the names. But this helps at any level. To increase ones awareness of their suroundings helps to carry out any of the techniques.
I just got finished reading Awareness, By Anthony de Mello. (The Perils & Opprotunities of reality.)
This book is not for everyone. It is rather evasive, in your face and rather crude at times. But!! It has some very good points to ponder. If you do read it try to be open minded. It does not talk of dreaming. It is more about awareness as a human being.

Really? My impression of Castaneda was that he ran out of material with "Journey to Ixtan" where he did present that useful tip about looking at one's hands during a lucid dream in order to focus. Then the books kept coming, probably for no other reason than that his publisher was giving him large advances for more of the same ol' same ol'. I would read a few chapter and simply never get the sense that any of it was real. some of it seemed trite enough to even suppose that Castaneda had contracted the work out to a subcontracting writer's factory -- good for churning out ghost written same ol' same ol' to fit whatever particular genre you want to dish out (where do you think Creative Writing Students go when they graduate?).Quote:

Yes, perhaps he became a little stale after Tales of Power. The Art of Dreaming just contained to many interesting things to try.
If I remember correctly, I read it 25 years ago, The Eagles Gift was pretty good as well. When I finish his series, I will most likely be looking for dreaming material from the old Tibetan monks.
So many books, so very little time!

I would also reccomend the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, by Sogyal Rinpoche. It is not directly about lucid dreaming, but I found it useful in inspiring high-quality lucid dreams. It's an international bestseller, so you should have no trouble finding it.
