I knew that caffeine can help you become lucid, by being more awake in your dreams, not sleeping as deeply, but I've been thinking about this lately. Can too much caffeine before bed, have the reverse effect upon your dream recall by not allowing you to enter REM as easily?
I did a search on it, but wasn't too sure what to look for, but I did come across a few things that stated caffeine can inhibit the REM cycle.
I don't have quite the recall I used to, and the last couple days I've had HORRIBLE recall. I used to be able to recall detailed dreams without even trying and so I've been wondering if it could be the caffeine in the Pepsi I drink. I know it's not as much as in coffee, but over the course of the evening I probably drink 2 sometimes 3 glasses of it.
I haven't had any Pepsi since supper, it'll be close to 6 hours or so by the time I head to bed since I had any and so I'm hoping to see if there's a difference tonight.
