What kind of effect does alcohol has on lucid dreaming? :)
Well i think it makes it harder to remember dreams, but it really matters how much alcohol.
I've found on occasion a small amount (like maybe 1 beer) can help me fall asleep in a relaxed mindset without affecting my dream recall.
Okay, so too much alcohol destroys your chances to lucid dream and a little can actually help? thanks alot :)
That's probably right. Drinking too much makes me have tedious nauseating dreams that are probably expressions of my actual nausea. I don't think I'd even want to lucid dream in that mindset.
I've also noticed that when I drink a bit, enough to be 'buzzed' before sleeping, my dreams seem even more vivid than usual. But that might only be because I tend to drink on days I can get adequate sleep or oversleep, and on those days I'm likely to have more vivid dreams.
I agree with the others. If you drink too much (so much that you don't trust yourself to walk properly) then you've overdone it and might not remember any of your dreams at all. But if you get a bit tipsy I've found I get lucid almost every time.
It's not a healthy way to get lucid dreams though. I wouldn't make it into a method. But next time you go out then maybe you should consider the effect it will have ;)
BTW, alchohol is supposed to supress REM sleep, so this would be the reason that having too much reduces recall. However, this should produce REM rebound later.
Alcohol will cause you to "fall asleep faster" but as your body removes the alcohol and you become "undrunk" you actually wake up.
So i would guess if you drink the right amount, at the right time, it could help you get into a lucid dream more easily as you would slightly wake up around REM sleep....
I am having a bit of a trouble to get lucid so I am just trying to find new ways that might work for me ^^
Thanks for all the answers!
