Controlling lucid inductions consistently?

So near the end of my sociology class, I started falling asleep. My head was on the table and soonafter I felt a heaviness/prickly sensation all over my body. It almost felt like gravity was pulling me down 2-3 times harder than usual. I have gotten this feeling before, but I snapped out of it and paid attention. This time however, I felt like this could be lucid related. I waited a bit, with the intention of hoping to open my eyes into a lucid dream. When I felt the time was right, I lifted my head up and opened my eyes. I was still in class, not dreaming. I sat there taking notes for a few minutes, and then proceeded to promptly wake up. Dont you love it when that happens? --__--
Anyways, I get the feeling that the solid prickly feeling was sleep paralysis, but for some strange reason I have only gotten this feeling with my head on a school desk. I clearly have the capability to obtain SP and recognize it, but how do I make that happen on a consistent basis? Anyone else have similar problems?

Yes, that was definitely SP. You actually performed the WILD technique, but failed to become lucid. Keep in mind that with SP and WILDs, the dream often starts in the xact same place you fell asleep. So, it is a good idea to perform a RC after any WILD attempt. Whether you believe it failed or not.

Day time naps are really good times to hit SP. Also, the drifting off to sleep, but sort of trying to stay awake will often make SP even easier. This is likely the reason you hit SP during class. You are kind of hovering around that half awake/half asleep feeling. This allows you to fall asleep, but remain conscious at the same time, which the is the whole idea behind reaching SP and WILDing. I felt like as I was drifting off, i was focusing heavily on the teachers voice and stayed conscious possibly? Also, I feel like if i try to reach SP too much or think about it too much when attempting to WILD it just doesn't happen. I wasn't really expecting nor aiming for SP when it happened. I feel sort of stuck, cause I dont really know how to attempt a wild without actually knowing/focusing on the fact that im shooting for sp, any tips you could give?

Basically, I suggest you use an anchor to help keep your consciousness. In class, the teachers voice was your anchor. You simply fell asleep as you listened to his/her voice. This was able to keep you conscious, though the environment fooled you into thinking you were unsuccessful. When you are attempting a WILD, you need some sort of anchor to help you keep conscious. You could possibly turn the t.v. on at a low volume, or play some music on a low volume, or run a fan and use the fan noise, etc. There are infinite number of things you can use as an anchor. Though, and auditory anchor worked for you already, so I would suggest trying that out again. An anchor can coincide with any of the 5 senses. Don't even worry/think about SP much, just try to fall asleep as you keep some attention on the anchor. Once you start to fall asleep, SP will come. Then just remain calm, act as if nothing strange is happening, and just go with it. Continue to fall asleep and you should end up in the dream stat.
