I'm having that problem now and have had it for about a month. I've restarted in bursts of motivation a few times, but it never lasts for more than a few hours or a day. I don't know how I'm going to work up motivation again. I feel like I need something big to happen or make some decision and actually mean it.
Kind of but mainly because non-lucids tend to result in amplified emotions and those kind of dreams are always interesting.
yes..right now actually :)
thats why im back here..i have been having some good dreams lately but have been too lazy to actually write them down, so i dont remember them!
im hoping to get back into it like...right NOW
I'm just going to make the decision to start being motivated again and try to LD, right now.
I just think of all the things I want to learn how to do, and explore, and experiment with in lucid dreams.
The only times I really lose motivation is when I'm really tired and I just want to sleep, which is a shame because this is the time I should be the most eager to practice.
im having trouble getting back into...i always forget to write in my dream journal
i have the same problem ! i just am too lazy too write down my dreams even though my phone is right beside me, i just am too tired and want to go back to sleep. i've had about 6 lucids in the past and i was always excited to do it, but not having a good long solid lucid has sort of made me lost motivation :(
You guys should look into a voice recorded journal. It is much simpler to record your dreams. You can record a dream in greater detail, in half the time if you you record it by word of mouth. You could use a microcassete recorder, a digital recorder, a computer, etc... Anything that you could record your voice with. I would look into it if I were you...
recorder or journal should be small enough to carry during the day, in case later in the day something triggers a memory of an earlier dream to record.
Recollection experiences in the dreamworld is not easy when most have spent a lifetime ignoring our dreams.
I lost motivation at many points, but came back.. this time my motivation is here to stay!
Well, I lost motivation for 3 and a half months of lucid dreaming, due to a dryspell.
One day, I thought of LDing again and got a quick LD shortly afterwards, this motivated me, it was in Jan2011 and since then I have been back into LDing.
I gave up in Oct2010, and had 37ish LDs then (I really started Aug2010) I gave up, then got back into it and shot up to 61LDs in that while. I am into a really good mode with LDing right now, March was an extremely good month with me and LDing, I am in sort of a dryspell, but it will pass. When I want to give up, I just think about how much I want to LD, and it really feels accomplishing because you work so hard at it and I just think back to the feeling of lucidity and dream goals etc, and I just keep on trying :)
Wow, it's actually kind of nice to see that there are others with the same problem. I've been out of it for quite some time, but just recently I've finally gotten back to writing down my dreams most of the time. Hoping for another lucid soon.
I think the digital recorder is the best physical ally we can have, especially for incostant people ( like I am ). Waking up in the middle of the night or in the early morning having to write down stuff is not the best option because it takes time and if you want to write down the details can take 30 minutes or more to properly write down a dream. The other downside is that since writing is not just a slow process compared to speaking but it also requires a lot of focus and activation of your left emisphere, by doing this you can easily lose some details or even entire parts of dreams because you are not letting the dream memory flow but you need to focus on small fragments to write them down. You can then write down the dream in your DJ later on or just keep a vocal DJ. The secret about motivation I think is never ever feeling like you are done, you have succeded, feeling overconfident. Let me explain. After the first 2 LD I had I felt like, hey it's not so hard! I thought it would have been harder, I can let go a bit not reality checking and stuff. Mistake. You'll have to get back from the start, instead if you have a LD feel like it wasn't enough and be critical about what you did, what you could have experimented or improved and what you would have liked to do. That leads inevitably to goals. Goals help keeping the interest alive so it's important to choose a goal that is really significative to you and that is realistic about your actual abilities and chances to succeed with it. Oh and never think things like: I have a block right now or I can't LD etc because it's just not true, you can always LD, thinking these thoughts can only help you not becoming lucid, unconsciously strenghtening this self conditioning about you NOT BEING ABLE. Always be positive, and to quote the Matrix (or buddhism in general) don't think you can, know you can. :P
I have been on and off for motivation for years. This time I am getting farther and staying motivated because my girlfriend does it with me. If you can find someone who does it with you than its easier.
My motivation has been increasing now, probably because my school is over. My recall has gone from 1-2 vague fragments per night to 2-3 full dreams per night, after only about 3 days of actually writing down the dreams. And I had a lucid last night, and the night before, after a dryspell of about a month.
Good to hear it's all coming back to you :)
My post up there was liked? How sad. That was a long time ago, and I failed. :(
