Perplexed by mirrors...

I am totally confused as to why my reflection always looks different in a dream mirror. I also read every other person saying the same thing. Here is why I am perplexed by this issue:

We know exactly what we look like. In fact, we don't know anyone else better than ourselves. We look in the mirror throughout the day, we have pictures of ourselves, we know all the details of our body and our face. Yet in a dream mirror, we see an unusual reflection. The reason for this cannot be that our mind has problems reproducing the reflection, for the reasons I just listed: We know what we look like. I also see other individuals perfectly normal in dreams. Yes sometimes in a certain dream a person will look differently, but in 95% of the time, all the people I know in real life look the same in my dreams.

So why is it that our reflection is different in a dream mirror? I've seen myself with very unusual hairstyles, and darker skin, and different facial features, and unusual facial hair, and strange clothing, and weird facial expressions, and so on and so forth.

Could it be that the dream mirror reprents how we currently feel in our life? Maybe it wants to tell us something? I just don't know. My image almost always looks VERY unusual in a dream mirror, and I'm really perplexed by this. I wish I knew why that is. There should be a reason for it.

Dreams distort certain things more than others. Why are hands frequently distorted, I don't know. Could be a sort of mental block.

I really love mirrors in dreams. I usually look the exact same except for my hair in mirrors (though I have had other strange differences before). Even when I look like myself in a mirror, my reflection always lags a little behind my actions. I also can melt through/pass through mirrors in dreams and it always takes me to a new location. I really like mirrors...even in waking life :P.
