I was talking to my freinds today on teamspeak (they live in the UK) and they were saying it isn't natural for your brain to become lucid and run at 60-90 HZ.
So I ask, is it possible to get brain damage from lucid dreaming?

I won't say yes, and I won't say no as I can't say either way with solid evidence. However, I have been a lucid dreamer for multiple years, and there have been many who have done it for years upon years longer than I. Through all this, I have yet to ever read or hear of even a single DOWNSIDE, let alone anything harmful coming from lucid dreams.
As a note, your friends honestly cannot say that lucid dreams are "unnatural" as the idea (or, rather the purpose) of dreaming in general is for the most part still a mystery in the scientific field. Even so, I find it hard to understand why the simple act of realizing you are dreaming while dreaming could cause brain damage in any way, however as stated, even if I am wrong there still has yet to be a report of something as suggested. Also, there are plenty of people out there who are "natural lucid dreamers" in that all (or most) of their dreams are lucid without effort. I have even seen a few reports on these forums from these people where they did not even realize this wasn't how it was for everyone.
I hope this helps you out at least a little.
I'm fairly certain that the brain runs at about 7-9Hz while dreaming, not 60-90, which would typically be found in people using their working memory to complete a difficult task -involving more than one of the senses for example.
And no, it is not.
Ah yes, it is higher while lucid dreaming, about the 40Hz mark tops from what I can glean. Have a quick look: link
It should be easy to get a no, considering naturals don't show any kind of brain damage, and yes, I know a natural that got their brain mapped and all that stuff, no sings of brain damage so no reason to believe LDing causes any brain damage.
What is this I don't even. This should have been put to rest in the second post. No, you won't get brain damage from lucid dreaming.
If it was possible to ge brain damage from lucid dreaming then Hukif up there would have died 10 times over by now. :cheeky:
