I'm scared to have a lucid dream...

I have never actually had a lucid dream that I can remember, they have all been "normal dreams" so far. But from what I have read a lot of people ecperience some very scary things in lucid dreams, like agressive characters trying to assult them sexually and so on. there are also some people claiming that these characters are other dreamers or sprits of dead people, and that totally freakes me out! also I have heard thet the characters get scary or cold when you start asking them questions? I am so scared I'll have a lucid dream now! :?

And some other things I have been thinking about: Do you actually get to choose the characters in a lucid dream yourself? Can you make a celeberty appear and have a conversation with them?

Aw hun, there's no reason to be afraid! They're really awesome. Put it this way, our of around the what, 60 lucids I've had? I've never had a scary one. Exhilerating yes, when there's something after you, but you have the power and it's your dream. Imagine all the things you can do! You can do anything. ANYTHING.

Also, remember that if things do get scary you can kick the things ass or wake yourself up ;)

i've never had a "scary" lucid dream. and i've had TONS. actually. i taught myself how to become lucid when i was a kid in order to be able to take control and escape the monsters in my nightmares i was having. you have nothing more to fear than you would in a normal dream. actually, much less so. hope this helps you to be more confident.

Don't be scared. Ever since I started lucid dreaming. I never have nightmares. Scary things happen but for some reason I don't have that scared feeling.

Dreams are heavily influenced by your expectations. Expect amazing and beautiful things, and they will appear. Focus on all the positive possibilities, and just forget about anything scary.

Had many lucids by now, and I'm a naturally anxious, fear the worst type person. I spent all my time before ever LDing thinking about ghosts, dead people and getting stuck and all sorts of other rubbish things. If it was going to happen to anyone it would have happened to me - and it hasn't! I've never had a scary LD. In fact, sometimes when I have regular scary or nasty dreams, I recognise the nightmare, and it immediately becomes an LD. When that happens I usually just instinctively turn round and what's behind me is a completely new happy dream scene ready to explore in lucid awareness :)

I'm not going to lie, I was kind of in the same position as you. But that didn't really stop me from wanting to having a lucid dream.

I've had 3 lucid dreams already after just a week and a half of dedicating myself to getting lucid... and again, I'm not gonna lie, some of the things you see in a lucid dream APPEAR to be scary.
For example, in the last dream I had, I went to the bathroom to turn on the light, and it didn't turn on. I also looked at the mirror, and my face was all out of proportion like I was some kind of monster lol, and I also had like 10,000 fingers. I also had a random phone call from some weird contact that I couldn't make out, and when I answered all I heard was static.

All of this sounds scary... but to be honest, when you're IN the dream, and you KNOW your dreaming, none of it at all is scary. I'll admit I got a little freaked out by the phone call but I just reminded myself that this was a dream- all of this is coming from my OWN mind. Therefore, nothing will ever hurt me. As long as you keep reminding yourself that this is just a dream, and you can get out of this dream whenever you want or do whatever you want in the dream- nothing at all will ever appear to be "scary" to you. :)

Dreaming is something you experience every night anyway, to be lucid in the dream is advantageous to you, because u can control the experience. But words dont teach you'll have to experience it for your self and then decide how u feel about it, i wont be surprised when i read your excitement over your first lucid dream. :) namaste

I've only felt afraid in a lucid dream a few times. I recommend reminding yourself that you are, eventually, going to wake up from it and be perfectly fine. The last time something happened that freaked me out a little, I just closed my eyes and thought, Take me home, and I woke up.

I'm not going to lie and say I've never had a lucid nightmare, because I've had one. But out of 240+ lucid dreams, one is not that big of a deal. It was just a dream in which my control ran away from me, and it wasn't even that scary - it was a shadow, or an unseen sentient creature like many people have in regular nightmares. I've also had one that could have turned into a nightmare (another shadow was about to attack me, but I told it "NO!" and it went away, saying "sorry".) :P Be authoritative in your dreams, and expect good things to happen - they will!

For summoning dream characters (DCs), all you have to do is expect a certain person to be somewhere, such as around the corner. Visualize what they look like, know they will be there, and the dream will do the rest. You can definitely summon celebrities and talk to them - I've summoned quite a few in the past! :)

Oh, and when you get summoning down, you can always control the way they act, also by using expectations. It can give some hilarious results.

I dont think anyone can have a scary lucid dream. When your lucid your aware of everything and know that your dreaming, so unless you want a scary situation to appear it wont happen. So there is nothing to be afraid of.

Nah, it's totally possible. Lucids follow your expectations. If you expect to be scared, you will be. It's happened to me before, and It was quite a lot of fun before I woke up.

The only time I was scared in a lucid dream was when I accidentally flew way up in the air, it only scared me for a minute and only because it caught me really off guard (first time flying), lol. As for people attacking you... Yeah, it can happen just like any other dream. I had a big unexpected battle in one of mine but it wasn't scary, it was like playing a video game.
