How long are you able to lucid dream for?

I've been told before that most dreams are only a few seconds long. Are you able to have any control over the duration of your lucid dreams, and if so how long have you been able to stay in one dream?
Have you ever transcended time and space?

Yes. Well, time, not space. No, I don't know what you're talking about.

My LDs range from a few minutes to up to 40 minutes each. However, it seems my LDs come in clusters. I will go for extended periods of time with no LDs and then will have a night with 3+ LDs

If you chain them all together with the false awakenings, maybe a couple of hours is my record.

6 Hours? Do you mean in perceived dream time? That's a long time. Mine are typically between 2 minutes to up to 10 minutes at the most. I try spinning and relaxing to prolong the length, but sometimes I have no control. nesgirl119, what's your personal technique to continue your duration of your lucids for so long? I don't imagine they were always as such.

Well, I personally don't have one. I know that they last for 6 hours at the shortest b/c when I tell myself to wake up in a LD, I wake up usually 6 hours later, but if someone wakes me up b4 those 6 hours are up, I hope they have a death wish!

Anywhere from 1second to 10 minutes or so. Usually my lucidity deteriorates or I deliberately wake up to write the dream down

My longest lucid dream to date was about 51 minutes (exactly measured) . However it was very fuzzy, unclear and I pushed it to continue for as long as I could...

nesgirl, I must say I dont believe it's possible

Try doing WILD and staying lucid for 6 hrs, and report back your findings

if you will still able to LD for even 2 hours , I'll erect a shrine to your name and will pray to you for guidance

The problem with long lucid dreams is that you can start forgetting parts of it or go into false awakenings and stuff. I would say my longest lucid dream I have had without starting to forget stuff is about 10 minutes. I think I have had them up to 30 minutes though. One problem is it can be really hard to tell time in a dream. You might do one thing for 20 minutes or do 30 things in 2 minutes. Clocks dont give the right time in dreams so I can't really say for sure heh.

well my very longest lucid seemed like it had to last at least 12 hrs, because I had many F/A (like 10) and they each lasted a very long time, 12 hrs is prolly only how long it seemed because I distinctly rememeber going to get on my bike and then suddenly being by it, but my mind had imagined me running to it.... so the dream could have only lasted for 30 mins but it really felt like 2 days, but now that Iv thought about it im only giving it 12 hrs tops,

Iv heard of a few other people who have had this, but I think its just that you see images and your mind makes you believe that you did something hard to explain

And Nes girl is confused/werid/ differnet...what ever.. so her experinces are either delusions/misperception/lies/"unique"

I don't know how anyone can know how long their dreams last. I know at what time I go to sleep and and what time I wake, but because dream time/sleep time is warped, I can't really tell fer sher. I've had dreams for a couple minutes that seemed like hours and I've had dreams for "short periods" that were actually longer than I thought... I would guess mine run anywhere from 2 or 3 minutes to an hour or so.

I was so happy when I had my long one.

Howetzer the Great had just told me about looking at your hands for dream stability and the next night I used the technique very often to give me a dream that seemed to me to be atleast a half an hour. I'm so glad!

Sometimes like 5 minutes, longest might have been 20 minutes.

My more vivid ones start fady and then materialize into vivid ones which I feel the reality. They tend to last longer.

Usually only an about 15 seconds. But the last time I remembered to relax and it was over a minute but still I was not totally convinced I was in a dream. What I mean by that is even though I was relaxed my doubts that I could do things like fly held me back from being totally lucid.
