Am I doing well?

Two days ago, I decided to get back into the lucid dream scene after several months of having not been involved. Since then, I've been doing regular reality checks. Last night, I attempted to WILD. I failed. I seemed to be close to SP, but didn't reach it. I saw a (hazy) environment form before my eyes. Like an idiot, I lunged forward in my bed and found myself sitting up. I felt so stupid. Anyway, I was wondering if I'm doing well in the realm of dream recall. Prior to me going on this journey for lucid dreams, I had very poor recall. I'd be lucky if I recalled one dream per week. Since I decided to start trying again, which was two days ago, I've recalled five dreams, albeit not vivid ones. Am I on the path to success?

Plazzyd, welcome to DV :).

It sounds like you're doing great with recall so far. Something to work towards would be to remember at least 1 or 2 dreams per day, and your recall will be great by then. In response to your WILD attempt, try to maintain focus only on lucid dreaming while you're in SP, and ignore any sensations you feel or anything that happens, during the SP. It helps to use a mantra as you're falling asleep; in other words, repeat a phrase over and over in your head, for example "I am dreaming" or "I am in a lucid dream". Have full confidence as you're doing this, that you will enter a lucid dream. To quote the DV member JamesIsDreaming, "Disbelief is a lucid dreamers kryptonite.".

sounds like you're making progress. Are you keeping a Dream journal/diary to record your dreams?

Yeah. I write down my dreams in a Word document. I don't immediately do so after waking up, though. Is that behavior problematic? Sometimes, after waking up, I'm just too tired to do anything.

You don't need to journal immediately after waking up, but bear in mind that the longer you wait, the greater the chance that you'll forget your dreams before you can journal them. When I wake up with part of a dream, I sit in bed and go through what happened in my head, and I figure out the whole dream before getting up. Once I get up, I hold on to the dream as much as I can until I can journal it, then I usually remember more details as I write/type it out.
