overcoming SP hallucinations

any tips?

i want to try and have a WILD when i first go to bed.
i have asked around and i know it is easier during WBTB but i have also heard it is possible to do it when you first go to sleep. when i try to WILD first off i get the hallucinations that a few have mentioned (short of breath and thumping heart beats)
last night i tried this and the problem i came across was thinking about my techniques and trying to overcome the short of breath, the short of breath lasted for ages so i was aware it was a hallucination and i wasn't going to stop breathing, so i just kept going but it distracted me from my techniques which caused me just to fall asleep.

can you let me know if you have done this and any tips.

again i know its easier to do it during WBTB as ive done it, now i want at least 1 when first go to bed.

Hi guns..I have had SP for about 7 or more years now and i tend to go into it just as i have woken up from a dream but as you have said you want to do it first thing...although i have been half way to doing that myself i have been distracted from the feeling that comes with it, like the numbing wave from my feet upward so i then quickly move and get out of it, you have explained the "old hag" part of it , the tightness of chest and unable to breathe...what i do when i get my SP episodes and you should try the same, think in your head "its ok nothing can hurt me", just remember it is an hallucination, it does pass and it doesn't last long, you need to get past that fear barrier, you wont die, this is something you do every night only your not "aware" of it. It is hard i wont dispute that, as long as you can remember to stay calm and that its not real it will pass, hope this helps, good luck :)

Just read your post again and as for tips you need to keep your mind focused, i'm sure you are doing that then a lapse in concentration happens, its not easy to concentrate, sometimes to imagine a scene and play that in your head as if your in that dream helps me, also the counting , when you realise your counting gets slack and you forget where you are you know then that your conciousness is slacking therefor you begin to concentrate again before falling asleep, again starting from 1. maybee someone else can give you more, but as i slip into SP without intent i can only go with what i do to help it then not get into a bad SP episode but to fling me into a lucid dream :)

Firstly, let me correct you.

Hallucinations means: "An experience involving the perception of something not present."

When you describe "short of breath", that is not hallucination. That is an actual physical change. Your body is decreasing its breathing rate, reducing the amount of oxygen your mind/body is receiving. Its a means to "calm down" and relax both your mind and body.

Niow, a good example of a hallucinations when practicing the WBTB technique, is when you get to the stage/point where you begin to hear noises. You begin to feel things. You even begin to see things. (These are more along the lines of hypnagogic, but to the average person, its means the same thing).

To save us time and explanation, im going to act as if hypnagogic and hallucination are the same things (pretty much are).

There are three types of hallucinations; Sight, Feel, and Sound.

• Sight: You may see shadows, lights, sparkles, shapes, objects, people, etc etc. The most common type when this happens is when you in the later stages of the WILD process. Although, many people have reported waking up and still seeing hallucinations in their environment, which slowly begin to fade away.

• Sound: Again, this happens during the later stages of the WILD process. The sounds one hears vary from person to person, and day to day... Most people will usually hear beeping, chirping, static. It's not uncommon to hear voices, even voices of people you know. Another user reports he hears sounds of that of a train [as if he was in the middle of a train track, and it was going full speed right next to him. He states its the most intense sound he has ever hear in his life]...

• Feel: Like the others, this too happens during the later stages of the WILD process. Most people report they feel a tingly sensation on their body. Maybe even sensation of flying or hovering. Some say it feels like they are being spun in circles really fast. Others report the sensation of being sucked down into their bed. - With each person, the feelings and sensations vary. - Now, there is the very rare occasion that these sensations may "hurt"...

With each on of these "Hallucinations", you are 100% PERFECTLY SAFE !!!! - Many people begin to psych themselves out, get scared, panic, etc... But reality the reality is, that EVERYTHING is in your head.
