Thread: Can we grow old in a lucid dream? Lucid Dreaming Limbo

Well no your dream will simulate the real world but instead of doing full days or weeks it cuts it into parts say you walk inside its warm you walk back out side its sunny you go back outside cus itts cold you come back out its night it works differently in dreams more of a illusion then realism

I think this falls under the subject of time perception and shape shifting. My normal non lucid dreams feel like 24 hour days so if i lucidily wanted to extend my time with in the dream i could make it "feel" (keyword) like 50 years or 100 years etc if thats where my focus was. Also your astral dream body is a reflection of what you feel u look like you can always change this as in shapeshift to a old man if you so desired to. This is a ggreat question you pose. I would be curious to know how Ld'ers over 60 plus look with in the dream or how they feel with in the dream, i bet they dont feel old their dream body may be a younger version of themselves cause that is still their perception of how they look in physical waking life. namaste

In a word, no. Some people, such as yourself, tend to read into the movie inception. Inception is a work of fiction. Many things in that movie are adaptations of lucid dreaming facts. This is meant to make the plot more exciting. You cannot actually grow old in dreams. However you can make yourself look old. But that is just a superficial change. Growing old involves mental changes.

Like Zebra said you can make your self look old, but you wont actually be old. &Like i said you can change you perception of time with in the dream but time in waking life still remains the same like nothing happen as you so put it. namaste.

You will have to experiment with this on your own my friend i cant tell you from first hand experience because this is not high up on my dream goals list the extension of dream time. However the best answer i can give you is that my non lucid dream time feels like 24hr days. So i imagine if your lucid you can actively extend the perception of your dream time. You can try verbal commands like "extend my perception of time" or use stabilization techniques to prolong the experience. also as you get better at lucid dreaming you'll find that the experiences last longer.

In a word: NO. Time is time, wherever you are. Dreams can seem to last a great amount of time, but the key word there is "seem." Like a movie whose plot spans many years but whose play length is two hours, dreams are constantly changing scenes, perspectives, even (dream) memories to give the impression of a great passage of time. Your dreams, however, last only as long as you are in REM state. Bummer, I know, but still true...

Of course I could be wrong! If I am, and you discover that you can use your lucid dreams to stretch time subjectively, and find yourself living lifetimes in the dream state, please do share how its done with us here!

P.S. Though "Inception" was a lot of fun and had some great images & excellent fantasy drugs, it really did little to accurately represent the lucid dreaming experience -- IMHO -- try not to take it too seriously.
