Does your pre sleep patterns affect Dreaming

SInce joinng this board ive been reading alot of posts by other people and reading about techniques on waking back up and setting alarm clocks to wake you up during sleep and i thought to myself, i cant do that, cause god knows how long it takes me to actually fall asleep sometime. i mean im the kind of person who can fall asleep in 2 minutes, or 2 hrs , and it seems like theres no rhyme or reason to it, ive been like this my whole life (im only 20).

So my question is , does and in what ways the amoount of time you spend and the difficulty you have falling asleep affect your dreams.

I dont think it really does. Just as long as you get 5-8 hours of sleep, then you'll get the dreams. The less hours you sleep..the less chance you'll remember a dream.
