Real Lucidity vs Faux Lucidity?

Had my first lucid dream since I got back into this last night. Or at least I hope I did. (I'll make a DJ later, the dream contents themselves really aren't the issue). Though I wonder if it was *real* lucidity vs, I guess, for a lack of a better term, "faux" lucidity. What I mean by that is: I do a reality check (I was practicing a sort of mix of FILD/DILD at the time, where if I noticed my fingers not moving, I would do a RC [nose pinch]), stabilize, and acknowledge that it is a dream, but it is not a true, conscious reality check/lucidity, but simply an unconscious part of the dream script. The reason I say this is because it didn't feel like the other lucid dreams I've had before, where I wake up immediately afterwards when the dream collapses after a few minutes. In this, I did the RC/"gained lucidity", played around a bit with telekenesis (I was in what seemed like Philly's Reading Terminal Market at the time, so there was plenty of stuff to toss around:cheeky:), and drifted back into nonlucid dreams after a while, and now in hingsight, I wonder if I was ever really lucid at all.

Anyone ever have this happen to them? Was it real lucidity? If not, am I doing RCs too little? Too much? Should I switch RCs?

Sometimes you end up flying or using magic in a dream because it's just a part of the dream script. Sometimes if lucid dreaming is on your mind, that too will become part of this "script", although it's not real lucidity. I've only had this happen once or twice, but if you're trying to LD and doing lots of RCs, it's a good sign because it tells you that you're really focusing on LDing!

If you're not aware on a noticeable level and are just going through the dream like normal, then it's not lucidity. If you are aware, then it is lucidity.

Keep doing your RCs; there's nothing wrong with doing them! Work on your awareness more and observe what's happening around you, taking in all the details and reason out why you're awake or asleep right now. Yeah, that makes sense. It lacked that level of awareness that the others had, but I guess RCs popping up naturally in dreams is a good sign then. I guess it's that old problem of RCs not being thoughtful enough cropping up again.

I actually believe you were lucid and just lost it. I have had that happen to me before. I was in a bathroom and someone told me I was dreaming so I RC and turns out I was. I then spent so much time stabilizing the dream that I forgot I was lucid :(.
