why are dreams anti dream!?

i hadnt had a lucid dream in ages, last night i had a really long regular dream but by the end i thought i had to go to work but my watch didnt work, the car clock didnt work and noone would tell me the time. i realised i was dreaming but when i tryed to do the "pinch nose" check the guy i was with jumped on me trying to stop me checking!!

i just wonder why did he do that? why when asked if im dreaming will dream characters usually say "no your not dreaming" or be unwilling to help me prove it!?

why are dreams anti dream? its my dam dream!!! why is it against me?

Dreams are like that :(

try to kill the guy who tries to jump on you :P

i woke up, couldnt focus after that. and i also did need to get to work!

Oh, well this is a conundrum.......

i sadly do not know :(

Well, at least you can rest assured that you're not alone! I can remember long dry spells where the DC's stepped in at every opportunity to hold me back -- and the pressure often got worse when I finally re-achieved lucidity. My problem was crowds -- whenever I started going through the first steps of establishing lucidity I would suddenly be surrounded by hundreds of people -- often quite friendly --looking for attention from me, reaching for me, waving at me, and basically just being enough of a nuisance to stymie my LD. There've even been occasions when I tried to fly away and they grabbed my ankles. BTW, I hate crowds.

It got bad enough a few years ago that I started to believe that there were some "Powers that Be" out there looking to prevent me from improving my LD'ing skills! I got over that, though, and realized that it was my fault...

Exterminate every DC

I ask myself the same question all the time, mrpinkeye. It does seem as though dreams are against being lucid ones! I cannot understand why this is the case. When I achieve lucidity I will wake up in a good mood and often be in a good mood for the rest of the day, enjoying the sense of achievement and the memories of what happened in my lucid. I can't understand why something in my personality, dreaming mind, preconscious or whatever doesn't realise the payoffs of becoming lucid and reward me with more lucid dreams.

I have often thought this myself I can see no unhealthy reason or any other reason that our mind does not let us
become lucid each night.
People who are lucky enough to become lucid each time they dream as far as I know suffer no ill affects of this on the
contrary they seem more fulfilled by becoming lucid regularly.

Well, naturally your subconscious intends for you to be non-lucid, and unconscious. Since DCs are manifestations of your subconscious, as are many other parts of the dream, they too will try and keep you non-lucid.

...and, because they are manifestations of your own mind, obstructive DC's can be subdued, ignored, or led to fail.
