This is mindblowing!! Anyone else get this?
Well,i have always been good at dream recall, averging 3-6 a night for the last three years(obviosly ive had lots of dry spells also)..
but Its like something has clicked, I have recalled tonnes of dreams for 18 consecutive days!
that is by far my most consistent run of dream recall. But not only have i recalled them i have been more connected to the dream state, that is, when i awake i truly feel i have been "somewhere else" in body and mind, its hard to describe.
But that is not the mindblowing part!
I dont know if anything like this happened to you guys but if it did id like to hear from you!
The night before last(after rem rebound, stayed up for 24 ours) I recalled a staggering 17 dreams!!! yes 17 separate dreams in full detail, i was writing them for over an hour in shock...17, and i went lucid 2wice in these dreams, althougth not to the extent i would have liked, and missed ALOT of dream signs, but im kind of glad since they were some of the most meaningfull dreams I've ever head had in my life..
Then....Tonight i recorded a staggering 15 dreams!!!!!! 15, is that even possible? maybe some were the same dream?
I woke up and its like the dream floodgates just swung open and a torrent of nightly adventures poured from the dim rescesses of my dreaming mind! its like there are separate memory stores form dreams and non dreams...
last night included some mighty amazing dreams..
the only thing i can think of is that i have been activly stopping during intervals and becoming aware of the details in my surrounds and my own conciousness to a very high degree...
i just had to share this mind blowing experience...anythign like this ever happen to anyone out there?
and is it the rem rebound that causes this?
I will add that i think the trick is(as i have done the last few days) is to get a LONG sleep, like 10 hours and keep waking up in the early morning after rem periods!
To try to answer your great questions!

One question: how many words did you fill your journal with? (I don't actually expect you to count them, but my question is meant to get to the point I want to make.) Seventeen dreams is great, but if you ask me, how much you write in a night is the true measure of recall. The reason is because of how one defines what constitutes a discrete dream. What separates two dreams?
A twenty year old who sleeps ten hours straight will accumulate about 2.5 hours of REM (40%). Ten hours of sleep means about six or seven rem cycles. So then, do you count how many dreams you had by how many times the dreamscape changes (perhaps 17 in one night would be accurate, then)? Do you count them by how many separate rem cycles you had, but then divide them up if you wake up during one? Say you woke up during half your rem cycles, that would mean you could have (7/2+7)=10 or 11 dreams in one night. If you never wake up during a cycle, then it means you could have 7 unique dreams. For this reason, I don't like to judge my dream recall by how many dreams I had, but instead by how much I write down.
First off thanks for the reply.
I think your points are very intersting and it does call into question the distinction between what is actually a separate dream as opposed to 2 that led into each other.
And judging your dream recall by amount of words? hmm, i never actually thought of that..
my dreams in my journal today take up 1804 words...that was 17 apparently distinct dreams and at least 10 that certinaly were...
the night before was 1720 and that was 15 dreams!
i have never before be SO connected to the dream world, i mean ive had periods of great recall but this is something different, almost like something has changed , i am effortlessly remembering so much material and holding the imagery in my head for...well most of my dreams even from 3 years back still present strong imagery in my head..
I think i am answering your above question when i say, I generally wake up after about 5-6 hours sleep, then recall a few dreams, then the real fun starts, i keep waking up every hour and a half or so for the next 4 -5 hours at times and each time remember more!
of course my sleep cycles are very erratic sometimes for weeks on end so i have no definite way, many times i will wake up just the once in the late morning and remember lots of dreams..I am making it now my goal to never not remember a dream!
Oh and how i got those word counts is after I write the dreams in my physical journal upon waking, i later transfer it mostly word for word to my dream journal on the PC!(word count baby!)
which is getting rather chunky at 280 pages, i am now able to conduct VERy intersting surveyes to check for dreamsigns, enviroments I find myself in most and of course surveys of lucids and how many times i have entered SP!!
anymore questions I'll be glad to answer, and good look with your dreaming!
