Alcohol can impact dream recall negatively for some people as it can suppress REM sleep. My recall always seems average when I drink. But then again I don't drink often and I don't drink that much.
If you notice alcohol reduces your ability to recall dreams then don't drink if it's important to you.
for me alcohol worked once to get LD, i woke up and i had to go somewhere with my uncle , so then after like max 2 hours we bought 2 beers and we drink em i drink em fast and i was litle durnky so i went to sleep and i got my LD ;D
idk but what i tihnk is , sometimes u sleep directly and ur dreams are not that vivid and sometimes u get suprsize: p
In my opinion it depends on how much you drink. How much do you drink by the way? From the OP it sounds like just one, which wouldn't really mess things up too much and might cause slightly altered brain functioning which could maybe increase vividness.
I'm told it suppresses REM, so depending on how much and when you drink, it would either hurt your recall in general, or result in REM rebound giving you vivid dreams in the later part of your sleep.
I think just one beer is nice not too long before bed, It's relaxing without being overly...anything else.
i wish theyd just come up with a damn pill by now. one that turns on the logic part of your brain when your sleepin lol wouldnt that be sumthin..
Just drank 4 beers....... probably too many, but I just ran into some old friends. One of them became a heroin addict, went to rehab, and is now a youth pastor in training. We just had a lengthy debate, thus the beeeeeeeeers.
Last night, in a birthday party, i had 4 beers and 2 bottles of white wine. I went to bed, and my recall was normal.
I usually recall 2 or 3 dreams per night, last night i recalled 2.
Alcohol seems to do two things, at least for me.
It decreases the depth of sleep. Thus I will awaken more frequently and have a harder time getting back to sleep. This can be an advantage as it basically serves as a WBTB. The lighter sleep allows for the conscious, waking mind to make a greater connection to the dreaming, unconscious.
However, the second, as many people have mentioned, is that it seems to reduce REM in many cases. So overall you will dream less.
It seems to be a hit or miss. Often I will have crazy vivid dreams from drinking, other times nothing.
Had my first lucid dream after some drinking, it was really foggy and I couldn't think clearly though...
I actually had my first lucid dream after a night out partying (with alcohol.. herp)
check out the galantamine thread if you haven't. It will tell you everything. Its an amazing LD aid. I've said this so much, people probably think im promoting it and getting some money out of it lol. Its not like, boom, you take and your lucid. But I had lucids almost every time I took it.
i have had extremly good recall a few times while drinking and im not just talking a beer or 2, im talking 4 cans of beer followed by a bottle of buckfast tonic wine!
i was thinking it is maybe the wine that helps as buckfast has a hell of alot of caffiene in it.
I find that a little doesn't have too much effect, but if I get smashed then my recall drops to zero.
i suppose it is every each to there own, i know now that drink will not always suppress dream recall which is a good thing IMO:sleepmeditate2:!
