Something to do with my time while I'm at work..?

So my job is basically the same thing everyday for 8 hours. I literally have too much time to think while I'm there, because it takes no brain power whatsoever.

I work in a shop, and all I do is walk around and grab fans to power wash. I try to do the all day awareness while I'm there, but my mind easily wanders off to other unimportant things.

I'm wondering what things I could be doing to help me become Lucid again. Today I decided to just keep repeating the words "Is this real? I'm dreaming" in my mind over and over again. Not sure if this would really work, but I feel like this 8 hours of "free thinking" time could go toward training my brain to become lucid more often.

Any ideas?

Questioning reality throughout the day should definitely help with everyday awareness.
I do something very similar and I feel like it is helping me a lot.

I don't think repeating the words "Is this real? I'm dreaming" would really help you a lot because after some time you won't really question it anymore. But you could do things like, everytime something happens you do a reality check, like when a customer enters the shop or when you see a specific product. But I don't know just giving some suggestions~

Reality checking when a cue appears is probably less effective than questioning if you're dreaming. I've learned that it really helps to just stop what you're doing and say something like, "wait, I could be dreaming." then you do a reality check to make sure. Since DILDs often start with the person suddenly stopping and becoming aware, emulating this in real life is sure to help. I've done this for a couple years now and it's been very effective for me. :) One doesn't need RCs to become lucid because they're an action, not a mindset. But if you do them with awareness, it's a great combination!

You don't necessarily need to use all day awareness; try being aware randomly throughout the day, because it brings the awareness to the very front of your mind. Some people benefit from spreading out their awareness (which always keeps a small amount of it in their mind); others do well with large bursts of it throughout the day. I've done well with this one because my mind never gets the chance to become 'used' to the consciousness.

i have a similar job. 8 hours a day of mindless shelf stocking. what i do is make work the yoga of work.

you can't do this all day (unless yr a yogi or some shit) but become aware of all the movements it takes to do your tasks. what it feels like to touch things you usually touch, as if you are touching them for the first time. see everything like this too. actually just use all your senses "for the first time". even small intervals of this thru out the day helps me.

Thanks guys. I'll try some of those things tonight at work. I don't think having the sun in my eyes as I go to bed helps at all either.
